We need more car interactions. Like, turning on/off lights or engine on/off. I know the interactions are hard to fit on consoles (the controllers have very few buttons), but still. Would be extremely cool. And I know that BEAM LIGHTS (note, not normal ones) were able to be turned off/on in GTA IV. And that engine could be turned off by holding the *exit vehicle* button for a little longer than you should. (Well, I play on PS3, dunno if it works on PC or xBox). But as you held the *exit vehicle* button, you went out of the car, too. U should be able to sit in the car, without engine running like a madman all the time. ESPECIALLY if they introduce gasoline (which is a speculation). MODS: Please don't lock this, this is not a "want" thread. It's discussion of pro's and con's. Kaspar

Ye, but there's realism.. then there's taking it to the point where controllers are gonna need buttons adding for all the features people want.
There's SO many other good ideas that need incorporating over stuff like this. I don't wanna have to remember to click my lights on, basically because there's no point. It's always been automatic, and it should stay that way.
Same goes for turning car engines off. Only thing I agree with is maybe being able to turn the engine off and stay in the car... for stealth etc. That's about it. | Nonono, I mean, the lights are still automatic when it gets dark and the engine will start as soon as you get into a car, just an option AFTERWARDS, like... the lights have gone on, but you can now turn them off. OFC it is automatic otherwise.

I too wanted to see more interaction with vehicles. Open hood Open trunk/backs proper storage in the back of pickup trucks (IE random cars with random props/items can be seen driving:fridges, furniture, bikes, dogs, etc) dump your own things in the back (bed full of bricks let loose on the highway? ) Realistic weight effects on the truck. turn engine on/off without exiting vehicle cars you buy can be started and shut off from your phone pick up random objects, drop them in the car/trunk without defying physics (flailing around like a dog suck in a fence.) open the trunk while driving and let the things in the back fly out (gas canisters on the highway anyone? ) high beam button keeps them on, press again to activate fog lights (implement occasional realistic thick fog with weather effects where fog lights become needed.) press again to go back to default day lights. (can be used to toggle racing lights as well and play with emergency vehicle lights.)

Hell, I would like to have to use them. R* is the only developer I know that doesn't link every action to one button.

I agree with you OP, and there was an idea mentioned in a previous thread.
To handle all of the controllable components of your car (raising/lowering the roof on a convertible, turning the lights on/off, windows up/down, trunk open/close, hood open/close, lowering/raising the hook on a towtruck, etc), R* could use a similar system to Test Drive Unlimited.
Pressing "up" on the D-Pad (or whichever button you/they choose) will bring up a small menu that will allow you to select whichever action you want. It will be somewhat time consuming, but you'd obviously do these kinds of things while sitting still or driving slowly (or just do them whenever, but don't be surprised if you crash). It's a nice alternative when you don't have enough buttons, such as on a console controller.
