Today I came across Custom ROM's for Androids and flashed my Xperia Play with the most popular 'Cyanogen'

All seems to be running fine (After I fixed the force close problem with the Camera and Torch applications) and everything is great, I have multiple themes ranging from 'Windows 7 phone' to 'HTC' styles!

Has anyone else Flashed there Android?, If so what ROM have you used?

Oh and can somebody explain to me in more detail what a Kernel is? n00b

Yeah - my phone's rooted. I don't have any interest in ROM's though to be honest.

A kernel is used to extend battery life and even in some case's double it or improve phone performance which will obviously have the opposite effect. You can edit your kernel via SetCPU. It isn't a free app - but it is worth it. icon14.gif

Running my Galaxy S on CM9. Must say Cyanogenmod > any other custom rom imo. My phone has been through four android versions thanks to CM.

Shouldn't this be in the Google Android Topic?

I'm running CyanogenMod 9 on my old (but brave) LG P500:

It came with Android 2.2 Froyo. Looking great now. biggrin.gif

I think I'll switch to AOKP, since it's just like CM9, only difference is that it has more features.
