Boot into 7,
Click start, right-click Computer, properties, advanced system settings On The 'System Properties' window that pops up, click the advanced tab Click 'settings' under 'startup and recovery' then select 7 as your default and uncheck 'time to display operating systems'.
You will no longer see XP listed as an option to boot into at startup.
Click start, right-click Computer, manage On the Computer Manager window that pops up click 'disk management' Right-click the partition you want to remove and click 'Delete partition'.
Windows XP data is now gone from your system.
The last step is optional: You can now click on 'Unpartitioned space' and choose 'format' to create a new partition or right-click your current partition and choose 'extend partition'. The former keeps two partitions and the latter creates one larger partition.

| QUOTE (Abadede @ Saturday, May 5 2012, 18:32) | | XP is not gone; there's an option for it during boot. In fact, I have to select Windows 7 for boot and not the default non-working XP. I rather install a fresh copy of XP, then try what Fozzy Fozborne suggested. |
While in Windows 7, in the start search box type "msconfig" then press enter. Under the "Boot" tab, you can select which OS will be the default (i.e. the one that is automatically selected in the list), and you can also remove the entry from appearing in the list. Simply remove the Windows XP boot entry and it will no longer prompt you when you start up your PC. It will boot straight into Windows 7.
