Help!

Sometimes when i play GTAIV, i have pretty annoying lag spikes, while my PC is good enough for this game.

Specs:

AMD Athlon X4 640 (4CPU's) 3,0Ghz
4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6700 2550MB
1360x768(32-bit)
Windows 7 Ultimate


My in-game settings:

Video Mode: 1360x768(60Hz)
Aspect Ratio: 16:10
Texture Quality: High
Reflection Quality: High
Water Quality: High
Shadow Quality: Very High
Night Shadow: High
Texture Filter Quality: Anistropic x16

View Distance: 45
Detail: 60
Vehicle: 60
Def.: On
VSync: On

Resource Usage: 906:1010MB

Also i did the can i run it test on game-debate.com, and it gave me a gold ticket, it said i could use high settings.


So, whats wrong? Why am i having these frame rate drops?

I won't accept that some punk site saying you can play GTA 4 well.

Why don't just try to go for medium? Try the Benchmark Tool and tell us what is your avg. fps. If you are using Fraps while playing GTA 4, then your game's fps will be -2.

Your PC is too weak for max shadows and night shadows.

System requirement sites give you a load of bullsh*t and then some if you are testing your system for GTA IV

What they are saying is that you should turn Night Shadows Off, maybe the Shadow Quality to Medium and the Distances to 30 or a tad lower.
Your system is fine for (low to) medium gaming, but not high and especially not GTA IV

Turn night shadows off. I think your GPU is holding back a bit, you may want to upgrade to maybe a GTX 560 Ti or GTX 570
