I wonder, Goldfish actually have pure, long-time memory. I know this because 2 years ago a owner of a Goldfish teached it to play Football, in it's fish bowl. (It pushes the ball into the net) and it did it everytime the owner said "Football", Also my old Goldfish (sadly died by falling out it's bowl..) kept weeping out it's bowl in the morning for me to feed it. So, why do people think that Goldfish have a memory of 10 seconds?

Discuss.

Why makes you think they don't?

One goldfish does not represent the whole species.

2*, well 3 actually. I had another one who did the same thing..
Anyway, the reason i also posted this topic, and why i wonder. Is because why did people even start the "Goldfish has a short-memory" and the saying "You got the memory of a Goldfish!"

I'm nearly positive 100% of goldfish swim to the top of the tank when they're hungry. In the mornings.
And haven't like various experiments proven the memory of a goldfish can span up to months at a time?

Oh sure, being able to remember something that is repeated over and over and over for a few months is a real achievement, these goldfish have fantastic memory.

Come on man, find something better to discuss.

Nope, it went out the bowl for me to feed him food, and because of the fall he died, it is a big height for a goldfish to drop.
Also, the guy who teached the Goldfish only took 2 weeks for him. Anyway i made this topic out of spite because i was bored. And i was wondering.

Taught.*

As in, "I taught you how to use the word taught in a sentence and that 'teached' is not a word in the English language."

I can't, i have a sleep problem. Once i couldn't sleep for 4 days, i do exercise during the day, i play a game, i do homework, i play with my dog, i eat food. and by end of the day i'm not tired out or exhausted at all.

Icarus: Yeah, again i'm tired. But i can't get to sleep, i'll probably remember how to say words and spell them when i actually fall to sleep and wake back up.

OH NO: It's like, the size of a Bunkbed, that kind of height. Hitting a tiled floor.

As i'm tired, and i made this topic because i'm bored, if you don't like this topic. You can just lock it and move on tounge.gif

What kind of height are we talking about here. And the fish got "out of the bowl?"at this great height and fell off?

Staying awake on the internet doesn't help at all.
Just like those people on FaceBook posting 'Can't sleep', well get off facebook you moron.

Read in bed until you feel tired and try sleep, if it fails try read some more.

Well goldfish indeed have long term memory, even mythbusters proved that. Ofcourse, Adam's goldfish started eating their own poo by the end but Jamies were sucessful in crossing the maze and getting the food. And they were taught.

If this is the case then, I hope Goldie and all the rest of the Goldfish that I've ever had that I thought had died (chances are some of them weren't dead after all) and flushed down the toilet aren't still holding grudges against me now that they are horribly mutated in the sewers of Bristol, or in the Severn Estuary. confused.gif

They come with a fatass price as well compared to gold fish.

If youre gonna drop goldfish off bunkbeds with no regard for anyone, then youre obviously in need of some sort of medical kelp. I recommend you make an appointment with your fishician immediately.

just in case theres salmon wrong with you viddy_pirate.gif

And, if it is true that Goldfish have long term memories, then their lives as pets must be an absolutely miserable existence. Swim round in circles all day, and now and again eat food that looks like an eczemas sufferers skin. No wonder he tried to commit suicide.

You must have forgotten to feed him so he went to get himself a sandwich and some marshmallows.
