Hello,

I am very new to the program called Moodle. I am looking for someone that does have some experience to it and can help me around. My first question would have to be... What do I download? And also, what file do I download? Cause I see a .tgz and .zip?

So that's my first question and what else do I need to get things started?

Thanks for the help,
SlickSpencer8

.tgz is a compressed tarball. A .tar archive compressed with GZip. It's pretty much a standard for *Nix machines. It will probably have the same files as the .zip archive, but some of them might be *nix formatted, so go for the .zip.

I never had to download it when I used it. I just had a login for it through the internet. You should ask your instructor.

I already know the link. icon13.gif

Anyways, is there a good updated video or a easy guide that shows how to make this.

And one of my friends downloaded is as well and he said he got a virus on his computer. Does anyone know why that might be?

@ Stinky,

Great link! I use Moodle too! However, as of yet I haven't had any need for the stuff SlickSpencer8 is asking about although, I will remember the link for next time.

Moodle you say? I never had to download it when I used it. Just had to login to the site, is that not working for you, or did they change something?

Off-topic rambling:
However me and a friend created a forum for everyone in the class as a way to chat when we were supposed to be working. After the teacher found out about it and flipped out, I hid the forums from guests and created a theme that exactly mimicked Moodle, worked for the rest of the semester.
I loved that class. We had center PIII computers we had to build from scratch, the ones that worked were networked and used to play CS 1.6 and Age of Empires II. Then we had separate computers off the school network that were used for testing in that class, with a password protected server that all the tests were stored on. I ended up installing Vice City Multiplayer and CS Source on all of them. He then started formatting all the systems to delete the games. I got sick of installing them individually, so I cracked the server and uploaded the games to it, along with a back up of the local VCMP LAN server config file.

+1 for the "I just logged into it and it worked" crowd. I'm assuming you're using a reasonably new browser (IE 8+, Latest Safari, Firefox 3+, or any version of Chrome) and you have flash and Java as some versions might need it.
