Being the giant fan of Green Day that I am, I couldn't go on without posting a topic about this f*cking awesome news of Green Day's 9th, 10th and 11th albums being released all within a few months time.
QUOTE (Press Release)
We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming," said the members of Green Day. "Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as f*ck!
Release dates: ˇUno! - September 25th, 2012 ˇDos! - November 13th, 2012 ˇTré! - January 15th, 2013 December 11th, 2012
Recording started on February 14th I believe, and the band has been putting out short YouTube videos documenting some of the recording process.
The biggest questions I have are: a.) What will these albums sound like compared to American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown? b.) How many songs will there be on each album?
If the sound is anything like the songs from their concert at the Tiki Bar last summer, I'll be extremely happy as it sounds like a major departure from their last two albums.
f*cking love that song already and it's not even the full version. It better be on one of the albums, hopefully the first one.
I know there are some Green Day fans lurking around here. What say you?

Bumping this as "Oh Love", the first single, has been out since July 16th and the second single, "Kill the DJ" is coming this Tuesday (the 14th). Not to mention ˇUno! is right around the corner.
Oh Love
Let Yourself Go
Kill the DJ, performed live for the first time on August 6th in LA.
I'm personally loving the sound they've got going now. Way better than their American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown work. I can hear a lot of classic rock, punk and even '80s influences in these new tracks.
And here's the track listing for all three albums (* = single)
ˇUno! (September 25th) 1. Nuclear Family 2. Stay the Night 3. Carpe Diem 4. Let Yourself Go* 5. Kill the DJ* 6. Fell for You 7. Loss of Control 8. Troublemaker 9. Angel Blue 10. Sweet 16 11. Rusty James 12. Oh Love*
ˇDos! (November 13th) 1. See You Tonight 2. F*ck Time 3. Stop When the Red Lights Flash 4. Lazy Bones 5. Wild One 6. Makeout Party 7. Stray Heart* 8. Ashley 9. Baby Eyes 10. Lady Cobra 11. Nightlife (ft. Lady Cobra) 12. Wow! That's Loud 13. Amy
ˇTré! (December 11th) 1. Brutal Love 2. Missing You 3. 8th Avenue Serenade 4. Drama Queen 5. X-Kid 6. Sex, Drugs & Violence 7. Little Boy Named Train 8. Amanda 9. Walk Away 10. Dirty Rotten Bastards 11. 99 Revolutions 12. The Forgotten*

Nice. I can only hope to Christ that they don't make songs as listenable or as easy to repeat as Good Riddance(Time Of Your Life), Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday or Wake Me Up When September Ends. Lest the wannabes cover it. But no hope for that anyway, none of the songs on 21st Century Breakdown really stood out for me.

Agreed. 21 Guns is the only song that appealed to me on the album, but you can only listen to it so many times.
Anyway, I'm glad Green Day's releasing not one, not two, but three whole albums between the course of three-four months. Didn't get a chance to listen to most of the songs, but I can say Oh Love and Let Yourself Go are awesome tracks. I'll definitely buy the trilogy and with so many songs, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Yeah, I'm really excited. Especially since I heard that ˇTré! is supposed to be reminiscent of their earlier stuff, like Dookie. More punk than recent albums, in other words. Not that I have anything against the new sound, but it appears that a lot of people have been hating on Oh Love for that reason.
However, after hearing Let Yourself Go, I have a feeling ˇTré! won't be the only nostalgiac album. I haven't listened to the other songs yet (Kill the DJ, Stray Heart, Carpe Diem, etc.), though, because I want to wait until they're officially released. I'm really excited though, it's great to see that they're still rocking through the development of the wrinkles.
On a side note, am I the only one who thinks Billie looks a helluva lot better without eyeliner? Also, Mike really needs to start spiking his hair again. I'm sorry, but it looks f*cking awful any other way, haha.

So far, some of the guitar solos from ˇUno! sound similar to the solos from songs off of 39/Smooth and Kerplunk. I'm definitely getting a more punk vibe and even a more straight up rock and roll vibe from ˇUno!, at least. They did say some of the biggest influences for this trilogy were combining AC/DC guitar riffs and early Beatles tunes.
I think Billie Joe said there is a theme to the three albums. Something like the first album you're getting in the mood to party, the second album you're at the party and the third album is cleaning up the mess. He said ˇTré!'s gonna be the most ambitious album yet, as apparently they've got some string arrangements on some of those songs. And the song Night Life from ˇDos! apparently has a rap part.

Like they've never used a string arrangement before?
That's just what I remember him saying in the article, and I can't for the life of me remember which interview it was. He said that the third album is going to be sort of experimental.

This is an interesting idea for sure. Green Day is probably my favourite band outside of metal, so I look forward to these albums to see what they can do with it.
As for 21st Century Breakdown, there are quite a few songs that I like off it, East Jesus Nowhere, Viva La Gloria (Little Girl), Murder City and Horseshoes and Handgrenades. All these songs have a great vibe to them and enough variance in them to make each enjoyable to listen to in my opinion.
Listened to Oh Love and Let Yourself Go and so far I'm liking them. I'll leave final judgement until I hear the rest of the albums these songs are on to see how I feel about them compared to the rest.

Glad that they're doing the punk dance again. I'm doubtful whether they can recreate the magic of She, When I Come Around or Brain Stew/Jaded but I'm happy enough that they listened to what people what. Not that 'Gloria' and 'Christian' sh*t.
I half agree with you but Billie is like any other chick; after wearing it in public for so long, he looks odd. At least he got rid of that damn blonde hair with the black roots which looked like absolute sh*te. Don't get me started with Mike's blonde mop...

Anyone else disappointed with the video? It would be great uncensored, of course , but it just isn't Green Day. The title is Oh Love, yet it looks like a lesbo porn shoot, with a band playing for entertainment between shots. Just doesn't fit right.

I agree. Bad move on the director's part, the video is awful and kind of irrelevant to the song as far as I'm concerned. They need to start making more stuff like Jesus of Suburbia again, that was probably their best video.

Aside from Mike's hair-do, I quite like the video. Visually, it suits the song very well. It's sticks to the tempo, the cuts are done with great timing and the overall feel is very much like the song. Although, I don't know the lyrics so perhaps the video isn't completely relevant.
I'm looking forward to hearing what these guys have been up to. I may not always like the songs, as is the case with "Oh Love", I mean, it's ok but they've done better, but at least their music is always guaranteed to be interesting on some level. For me it has to be Tre's drumming. The dude knows precisely how to complement the songs and he never fails to keep a full, vibrant sound.
Also, the fact that they have three albums worth of music to offer their fans is absolutely brilliant and I hope other artists take a hint.

I agree. If you listen to Kerplunk or Dookie compared to 39/Smooth, you can really hear the difference between him and Kiffmeyer's drumming. After they hired Tre, the songs suddenly had a lot more fancy drum fills/solo/things and really just more complex drumming in general.
