If you're going to be taking pictures all night, then isn't it a bit pointless to take a date anyways? Might be a bit rude if you keep leaving her, especially if you're leaving her to take pictures of hot girls.

I agree with the guy above me. If you don't really like this chick ask her why not ? If you think their's something their. I'd suggest asking her out another time. When you're not busy with taking pictures.

Honestly, go for it. Even if you're not sure if you're interested in her too much, I could guarantee you guys would have a good time regardless. And to boot, it'll give you a better idea as to your feelings about her.

Maybe approacher her with something like "so I'm covering prom for the yearbook, yaddayaddayadda, I'm getting in for free and, yaddayaddayadda it'd be fun to go with you." Make it seem like it's not necessarily a romantic date situation, and see where it goes.

Just ask, if you can make it sound casual then it won't be at all awkward, even if you tell her it would be nice to have someone go with you.
To the guy who said the prom committee is lame, well i wouldn't do it but the equivalent sort of kids i went to school with were good with the girls, being smart and organized does not make you lame unless your in year 7.

ehh i sort of thought of that, but she could just hang out next to me, and she's in the yearbook class too, so she would understand what she's getting into, and she may even want to help and use the camera.

Just go for it man.

I'm in senior year myself as well, and the one I kept putting off asking just agreed to go with some wanker. Looks like I'm gonna be turning up sh*tfaced.

At least you still have the opportunity my friend.

The only prom i ever went was a christmas prom, i went there alone and thats why it sucked too. From then on i haven't been to any of the christmas proms. Mostly because i'm not very fond of my class or school or the students. Most friends are in other schools too...

So i say what everyone says, don't be like me and take a partner with you and go. If you like the girl, just don't come on to her really intensly and try to make her smile and be friendly. Thats enough that i can share from my experience. dozingoff.gif

Ok, so a couple of days ago I decided my date would be the camera, because one of my friends said it would be rude to have another obligation, and my date would be like...left out. idk. but he made sense. I have a camera and am supposed to be taking pictures. would it not be rude if I had a date go with me, and then I had to go and take pictures?

Well as long as you made it clear that that's what you'd be doing, then no.

Everyone carries a camera to prom. At least they did when I went to prom. It shouldn't stop you from going with someone.

I also thought the title said porn.

You're not much good to her if you can't take her out and take some pictures at the same time. It sounds to me like you have a crush on her, but she's not one of the more popular girls. It also sounds like you fear rejection.

I'm not some kind of dating guru, but what I know is that if a woman makes eye contact with me and smiles, then there's no harm in going over and politely asking her out.

Why don't you just ask her to go as friends instead of some sort of date? I just went to a prom with a bunch of friends since none of us gave a damn about getting a ''date'' since its usually a bore anyway.

going as friends? no way do you ask girl you've hardly come into contact with to go as friends, that seems a bit cowardly . both people would be treating it as a date anyway , no point putting some non threatening label on it

I still think that's a bad idea.

I knew kids on the school newspaper / yearbooks staff who were "working" the prom and still had dates.
you're going to look like a total loser without someone.

I agree. Sounds like a cop out to me. It's best you get the experience of asking someone out sooner than later. If you just chicken sh*t out like a little pussy now, it's just going to be that much harder to do it as you get older. Next thing you know, you'll be some 50-year old loner with no grip on life, leeching off of society and wasting his days talking to himself.

'scuse me for being blatant, but take everything you said here and shove it up your arse. Pictures take a few seconds - you're not married to the camera, come on. Don't be a pussy and just ask her. When she says yes be sure you mention that "I'll be taking a few pictures here and there" just so she knows.

As someone was getting at before, in the States girls have a weird prom fetish. Unless she genuinely despises you (doesn't sound likely), or got asked by someone else, they will most likely say yes.

Whats to fear? If you don't ask someone else will.
