Gta games should be fun, not tedious, not repetitive.
However hidden pacages are.
My fourm question isdo you want hidden packages and why.

I like hidden collectables like intel in cod and other level games. it gives them replay value and lets you go off the beaten track. Now when a game is crafted around going off the beaten track, it becomes redundent, and a waste of memory.

Red dead redemtion( a game I highly recomend) re did HPs to make it more fun(like they did to alot of gta features) by reducing the number, and making it more of a scavenger hunt, and giving you a huge reward. Treasure hunts were fun an very addictive. And my only problem is that I wish there were more. Now if they gave me 200 and no map it would have become a pigeon, gang tag, tiki head thingy hunt that I know I would have hated. Im not basing gta as gta vc and gta 4 are tied for my fav game, but I am willing to admit that rdr did everything I love about those games better than they did. (except maybe empire building, god I want that back.)

Or at the very least, let it be something the character would look for. I looking at batman ac hidden pakages like that work because there was a scence of urgency behind looking for them. In gta 5 I would go looking for missing bags of the purest cocaine you can imagine to sell. that is something every gta protag cept maybe niko would look for. I could belive thatand I would enjoy looking for that.

I Just find it hard to belive that a crime kingpin would go around looking for balloons.
This isint spiderman 2, I hate it there I hate it here.
99 red balloons is a good song and not a good side misson.

I suppose these could work but to be honest I would rather a robust empire bulding aspect back in this game. I like getting 100% but for once to have fun all the way not just untill I get to 98%

Wat do you think? hidden pakages, yes or no? And why

Absolutely bring hidden packages back! One of my favorite things to do in San Andreas were doing the spray tags, flying around Las Venturas with the jet pack getting horseshoes and collecting oysters. Not only does it give us something to do after the main story is finished, but it gives us areas to explore so we can appreciate the hard work game developers have put into the environment

They're a bit annoying, do people even look for them without maps? I don't understand how a player can find them all by themselves. It boggles my mind!

Those people have too much time on their hands.

OT: I personally haven't gone for them in the past, because 100% completion hasn't really appealed to me in past GTA games. Once you do everything there is to do and achieve everything in the game, it becomes boring in a heartbeat. Though I get the feeling that V won't be that kind of game, so keep them in but at least change the type of item to something that will fit into the game setting. I get thrown off by collecting these kinds of things when they have no apparent connection with the game itself.

I absolutley hate them.
Even with the (ingame net) map on IV I still can't find all the birds, and I never will.

Such a pointless waste of time too for an annihilater.???

I liked RDR's Treasure map system, but it fits there, we're not exactly going to look for treasure in GTA (like that).

I would vote remove them entirely. Even more so if the reward is dissapointment.

To be honest, I think the game map should be interesting enough to warrant exploration without giving me 700 dog testicles to collect. Part of the fun of exploring is seeing what you've found and being able to go back to that part whenever you want because you know where it is now. Easter eggs make much more sense in this regard, because they don't stop existing right after you look at them. The locations themselves should be the packages. It just makes the game more fun to explore. Do you know how much fun I had with the SA UFO myth? That was pretty great.

idk why but I always avoid collecting hidden packages, maybe its a ocd problem, but I can't stand seeing 1/100 collected.

Hidden packages were never really fun and impossible to find without a aid of a map (and even then...). Treasure were fun in RDR, I hope something like that comes to gta.

I never actively collected the packages in any of the games, but I don't really mind them being there for those that want them. So long as they don't do the pigeon deal again, where you risk a wanted star or two every time you want to collect something.

Never really care about hidden packages or pigeon.
I think R* can save space to not include them on V
And replace them with something more interesting

I hate those kind of things, it's nearly impossible to find all of them except you 'cheat' by looking at a map in the internet, and you even then, you can not clearly tell which ones are missing. Also, it isn't really challanging to reach most of them and an incredible long and tedious task, and it is ,at least in my opinion, a cheap way to make your game look bigger than it really is.

Most definitley bring hidden packages yet. They're a GTA staple in my eyes. Although I'd prefer if it was something you collect, not shoot, like in GTA IV.

The problem with hidden packages is that if you start collecting them without the use of a map, you end up forgetting which ones you've already found. When you later go for 100% with the use of a map, you end up being stuck missing one or two because you didn't record which ones you found earlier in the game.

If R* gave each package a number id that you could check in the minimap then atleast you will know which packages you already found.

only if you get good rewards for finding them, like weapons + upgrades, safe house items/furniture, vehicles + upgrades, clothing.

I love hidden packages (stuff that is hidden in general), but I HATED the pigeons A.K.A flying rats in GTA IV because you had to shoot them or blow them up and I got police after me almost every time! Also there was no reward for getting all of them except for in Tlad you got a sh*tty Innovation bike for taking 50 Seagulls! I would much rather not have taken the birds because they add a bit of animal life to the city.

What I would like is hidden packages or stuff that had some significance or humour to them, also the reward should be really worth finding all of them. Not MONEY reward because money you usually get way too much of in GTA's, but maybe one or some unique vehicles... or... A JETPACK!

I enjoyed collecting Hidden Packages. In GTA IV they were replaced with pigeons (A.K.A Flying Rats) but there was NO reward whatsoever for collecting all 200, so it seemed pointless. Bring back some form of collectables, but have a reward for completing them, and not just one vehicle like in TLAD and TBOGT.

Bring them back
I like them. I never used to worry about collecting them but now im trying to get 100% i've been collecting them with the aid of a map. If you get a plan in place of what areas to search at what time 's you cant cut out the tedious part and it makes them easier to find

Basically i'll find ten remember what area they where in then go back later and find another ten. this way im not doing it for hours on end and it remember where i've allready been by only doing certian locations

in a way its one huge game of meomory and i like that smile.gif

Maybe they could have something like RDR's treasure map thing; maybe there could be a website in-game where people list packages that need picking up and they provide a description of where it is and maybe a picture to go along with it.

And it can be drip-fed throughout the game, so as you go through the game, more listings appear allowing you to find even more. And this can address the problem of not being able to keep track as it can tell you what's been done already. And you can be paid for each package received (100, 250 something like that) with bonuses every 10 packages (guns at safehouses etc.) It makes it less tedious, rewarding and actually possible without a map.
