All Rockstar will do is reveal some info via the internet and everyone will go crazy, they don't need E3.
The hype for GTAV is already off the scale, they don't even need to advertise, just release the game and it will get mega sales. The fans have basically sold the game and done the marketing for Rockstar already. |
True.. But they did reveal GTA III at E3 so who knows. |
They might of done, but GTAIII was a one off, a new game that took the GTA series to new found audiences. Since then, Rockstar have not had to reveal the game at a gaming event.

Does that mean that they should up to the E3 every third addition?

GTA III > GTA IV > GTA V

They had a bad experience showing GTA III at E3. Everybody ignored them and seemed more interested in State of Emergency. It made a lasting impression that E3 is a waste of time. This story comes from quoting Sam Houser in the book All Your Base Are Belong to Us: How Fifty Years of Videogames Conquered Pop Culture and separately from Dan Houser an an interview: | QUOTE (Dan Houser) | And then, the early part of showing people the game--including E3 2001--was disconcerting because it was incredibly underwhelming. Because we thought it could be magical. Not the Holy Grail, but this thing that was 3D but open and expansive, combining elements of hardcore action, driving, adventuring--all these genres. Very cinematic and story-driven gameplay, this experience that's really unlike anything you've seen before. And people were scratching their heads around it! We were all, "Are we wrong?"
There was enormous excitement around a few other games coming that fall. We went to E3 and everyone was obsessed by State of Emergency, and no one gave a crap really about GTA III. State of Emergency we thought was interesting, but not without its flaws--some of which never got resolved. But GTA III was already running, and we thought, "This is amazing!" But E3, I think, isn't the best place to show a game anyway, and that's definitely become solidified in our thinking since then. |
