It's because Lance was still an insecure dick and felt like Tommy was disrespecting him. That's why he betrayed Tommy.

^ Basically what he said but Lance was a paranoid person who thought Tommy would rip him off. So he sided with Sonny before Tommy stabbed him in the back.

Because plots weren't as developed in 2002 and that's what constituted as good story telling in games at that time.

If I'm honest though, its probably because Lance felt wanted to be in control. Tommy had a firm grip on the gang and he felt emasculated.

i'm like lance. I hate to admit it but i am.....
It's hard to explain why he betrayed tommy. It's the mindset he was in. He was doing alot of coke i believe and that's NEVER good. You dont last long once you're hooked on that gear like alcohol it makes you do stupid things and that gets you killed in the criminal underworld

Jealously trust issues. Remember the calls ''i'm not getting my far slice'' theirs a few of them. His paranoid and despite the fact he trusts tommy theirs something in him that stops him from trusting him 100%

Greed plain old greed : This is the final and main thing that got him killed his greed. He wanted everything and didnt think of the consequences of his actions (alot like me) so yeah he betrays tommy for someone who most likely would of killed him anyway

It was a dumb move but a believable one at that. I didn't see his betrayal coming but something felt right about it. Sorry lance i like you dude but your death was necessary for a good story

I mean seriously lance being in the final scene with tommy and rosenberg just wouldn't of felt right. I remember sitting their during that cut scene and it damn near felt real ! Like i had just survived a war it was a great feeling. I want that at the end of V a victory underlined with resolve. It was finally over i won

The more i think about it vice city had the best ending.

You lose your close friend so you lose emotonially. But you win the fight in the end. and Kill you're worst enemy the guy who stole 15 years of you're life. So your also happy. if that makes sence.

I still want to know how Vic died. I mean, Vic was in perfectly good health at the end of VCS, outside of Louise being dead.

Yeah i know right. Vic was awesome. Louise's death is by far the most emotional thing to ever happen in a gta to date ! Yes the deaths at the end of IV had me moved espically losing my favorite bowling buddy. But i still think V.C.S did it better. I LOVE how that game ends.

The last few missions are PERFECT the game doesnt just end with one last mission it goes for a few missions which is great their's alot that happens in those missions and i was really emotinally invested. In IV niko was abit over the top imo. However my heart was breaking for vic during those final missions. when he goes to see phil about helping him one last time that was a really moving moment.

But their was heaps of moments like that in vcs it's a hell of a game . That's not to say that gta iv didn't have those moments it DID. Their both good in different ways.

He wanted to be in control. You get a glimpse that things won`t end well at all between them after Tommy yells him at the mansion`s bar during the protection missions.

"I`m handling it Tommy!"

"You call this handling it?! I`ll take care of it"

Basically, he felt Tommy was not giving him his due, but in terms of plot it happens to be true that Lance tends to attrack more problems than results. And only one guy was to sit at the top, and that was Tommy.

That was something they couldn`t change since VC was made first. The brother of Lance who died had to be of some plot relevance to us, for the player to understand his whole motivation.

It couldn`t be the sick brother either, it had to be the one that got involved with Cortez and the rest. It`s a no way out plot point. As for why he kept being involved one can assume he simply enjoyed the money it gave him.

Lets be honest here though, almost every GTA protagonist is a backstabbing snake. I mean, if Tommy received a mission form Kent-Paul or someone asking him to kill Lance, he'd do it wouldn't he?

I mean, how many times did Claude change sides? Cippriani killed off JD O'tool for no reason. CJ stabbed Salvator in the back. In GTA no matter how much history you have with someone, if someone pays you a decent amount of money to ice them, you won't even hesitate.

Lance had reasons to not trust Tommy.

I disagree, I think they all had reasons to do what they did. Claude was just hired muscle, he wasn't on a side, JD was killed because he used to work for the Sindacco family and couldn't be trusted. CJ used Salvatore as a way to get info on the casino. Woozie was CJ's friend, Sal wasn't. Lance betrayed Tommy for money plain and simple.

Yeah, we learned that in Vice City Stories(VCS)-that Lance was just about the money and power, which is why his brother, Vic didn't really like nor trust him..Just look at the VCS mission where you(Vic) first meet Lance in VC-he acted like he wasn't really happy to see him..Also, How Lance was getting more and more into the drug trade, yet Vic keeps telling him how they are "suppose to be getting out of this.." throughout the entire storyline, for example...

So, that right there should have given Tommy reason to doubt if Lance is trustworthy or not? As Lance betrays Diaz in 1984(VCS's time) as well as in 1986(VC's time)...Heck, Lance and Vic even betray the Mendez brothers as well..so, that shows Lance is just after money and power and nothing else and will do just about anything to get it...

I didn't really go off topic, as I kept it related to Vice City at least-lol lol.gif tounge2.gif
