Whats better? I'd say MTA:SA

Pros & cons of both of them:

SA:MP
Pros:

• Lots of players
• Thousands of servers
• Easy to use
• Doesn't take up much space
• Easily supports mods
• Good for low-end computers

Cons:

• Still fairly unstable
• Masses of empty servers
• Most servers are copies
• Has a lot of bugs

MTA
Pros:

• Less mass-copied servers
• Most servers aren't empty
• Servers feel more 'complete'
• Wider variety of options for map editor
• Map editor is built-in
• Very stable

Cons:

• Smaller amount of players
• Less support for mods
• Less support for low-end computers
• Takes up a lot more space than SA:MP
• Doesn't allow you to scan user tracks

So both of them have advantages and flaws. I use both of them regularly so I'm basically neutral.

Having played both mods I'd definately say SA-MP is better. MTA does have some nice features and is probably more advanced than SA-MP is right now, but MTA is NOT user-friendly and is hard to adapt to, especially for beginners. It's also removed alot of the original GTA gameplay by disabling the SCM scripts, so you have to script them back with Lua making them worse imo. Then there's the need to download a 15mb file everytime you want to join a server, which is time consuming and annoying. SA-MP on the other hand is user-friendly and players can adapt to it very easily, you just hit connect and you're in. It has a massive player base too and if it were a popularity contest SA-MP would win hands down. Another reason why I play SA-MP is because it makes the most of the San Andreas map and it just has a better feel about it while playing it, not to mention that it runs more smoothly than MTA does on my computer. SA-MP also allows you to install mods like vehicle/weapon/skin/cleo etc. MTA doesn't support mods which is another reason why I avoid it.

Who says that SA-MP is better is because he never experienced the limits of SA-MP. I'm a scripter of SA-MP and I hate it. The developer is a berk and betatesters are a bootlickers, the mod has a lot of bugs and laggy. MTA has client side scripts and it's not so laggy than SA-MP, they are a true development team.

I think that 3 days waiting period to become a cop is a bit naive. The only reason i started playing MTA:SA is being cop, therefor, as a regular in almost all Argonath servers, i must wait three days -_-

I played SA:MP more, but most of the servers are dead, been thinking of switching over to MTA but never got arround to it mainly because I never really liked the interface. So I'm going with SA:MP being better in my opinion.

I heard somewhere here on gtaforums that there will be new San Andreas multiplayer mod called San Andreas online. Hasn't been released yet. Plus there may be some other ones which not many people know about??
