Hi Community,

I am new here and this is the first model I have ever released.

GTA IV: Real Metlife-Building



The model simply replaces the "Getalife" sign with its real-life counter part.

Note: This is just for people who enjoy realism and who like to make Liberty City a bit more like New York.

It has been made with GIMS and 3dsMAX 2010 and has been tested with GTA IV version 1.004.
As it is a model, it should work with other versions as well.

Thanks for the positive feedback,

I'm currently changing the "Pier 45" sign to "Pier 17" and replacing the "Star Plaza Hotel" at Timesquare with "Crowne Plaza Hotel"

This model doesn't move anything anywhere, I have just changed the letters. Maybe I will take care of the Empire State Building someday, but I doubt that I can move it to another place.

No. It's not. Sinse it's not the one used for the real building.

You're right, the sign is not exactly made after the real one. This would have required a lot more work.
You have to put a limit somehow, 100% realism isn't possible

If you wish to see a panam sign on top of that building, I will see what I can do about that

I'll be on a trip from tomorrow till saturday. Hopefully, I will find some time to model during next week.

OMG Thank you! I remember looking for this mod about 2 months ago without succes and now One step closer to New York

I already have this
- Metlife building
- Times Square mod
- New York Roadsigns
- New York subway stations and train
- New York taxi's
- New York police stations (Algonquin only)
- NYPD tollbooths and an NYPD police computer
- NYPD and ESU uniforms
- All police vehicles replaced with real life NYPD ones
- An American.GXT (the file with the game its text in it) with all LC neighbourhoods changed to their real life NY counterparts.

Now I'm going to
- Replace all vehicles with real life ones
- Install Icehancer
- Install Better City Textures
- Trafficload

What I still would like to find
- Statue of Liberty -> I already found one but it hasn't been uploaded yet (http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=20094)

Anyway, thanks DonSalami, for making my game even better with your simple but cool texture mod!

Thanks for the Mod. There is only a little issue: The sign changes sometimes from "Metlife" to "Getalife". It's easier to see if you take a helicopter. I think there is something from the old sign left that needs to be changed (lod texture maybe ?)

@sky25: You are right, I have experienced similar issues. I am sure this has to do with the slod model of the building. Hard to believe, but GTAIV uses 3 kind of models for one buildig, one for close up view, one for medium range and one for far distances. Seems that I forgot to change the one for far distances, so you will experience this bug when flying a helicopter.

I will fix this soon and post an updated version.
