My friend is making a map mod that is making a mountain, but the mountain doesn't render or appear when in a helicopter or a plane or just a bit further away, but when you somehow land on the mountain, it appears. My friend told me that you need some sort of LOD-files for them but R* doesn't release them, but I've seen mods that when faraway or in a helicopter, the map mod appears.

So my question is this: How can you make map objects appear from far away?

What do you mean? Does he expect R* to help with peoples mods or something?

Edit: Alright.

Well, I really didn't know what he meant, but thanks for the link! One question more though: are there LOD files of Mount Chiliad somewhere?

Thanks for all the help!
I've figured out the LOD system and found the LOD files but I've still got a problem. I have added these to the countryS.ipl file.

But the problem remains, I still can't see my mountain from my helicopter of faraway, I need to crash into the mountain for the files to start rendering, can anyone tell me what have I done wrong?
Note: I copied these from the Mount Chiliad LOD codes but changed only the coordinates, but I can see Mount Chiliad from far away.

The value for LOD isn't in the ipl files. You need to look in the ide files.

18395, cs_lodroads04, cs_roads, 1500, 0

The highlighted value is the lod value, the higher the value the further away you'll see the object.

But I am using the default Mount Chiliad and the default LOD-lines are already in .ide. Do I have to make new lines for my new Mount Chiliad in the CountryS.ide?
