The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were one of the most iconic figures to me in my youth. I have every season of the original cartoon on DVD & VHS and I have all of the comics hidden in a safe inside my storage unit (weather proofed of course) 3 of the 4 statues that were made way back when the first live-action movies came out.

I imagine this is how the people who grew up watching the original trilogy felt when they finally watched The Phantom Menace.

Haha, stupid turtles gonna get raped. I grew up with the turtles and loved them like every other kid in my generation, but I have zero desire to rehash such nostalgia, so they can cornhole them to no end for all I care.

Although, personally, I'd like to see a mature take on TMNT. Make it rated R and fill it to the brim with violence, naughty curse words and a naked April. I'd buy a ticket to see that opening night.

That's different. The turtles themselves weren't aliens.
If what that link says is true, They're turning the actual turtles into aliens, not mutants.

That's been proven to be a college project, not the actual makeup's. That pic has been around for awhile and fueled speculation and was finally outted by the student himself.
