TC, I agree with you and every thing. Now I don’t mind a refueling animation, but I don’t want to have to refuel my car (that way if I happen to be roleplaying I can just do the animation and be like look at me imma fillin up mah tank). Same as how I like to eat to gain health, but not because a grouping of pixels is hungry in a crime game, if I wanted to play a role-playing game where I had to eat drink and sleep, I’d go crank Fallout New Vegas’ hard core mode, because there it‘s fun and fit’s the game in this it just seems forced. Just like with me wanting to occasionally Role play and have a re-fueling animation, you can Role play that you need bite to eat, so it isn’t forced upon the game, like in San Andreas and it’s hunger system.
Now I wouldn't mind a hardcore mode type deal where these where included, but for normal gameplay, no thanks, there are times where I just want to play the game and mess around, I worry enough about being hungry and if there's gas in the tank in real life.

Having to eat in SA pissed me off. There's a reason R* didn't put hunger in IV. Because it was pointless, stupid, and pissed of 90% of the players. They made it so you can still eat in IV, and it restored you health, and this was perfect.
Fuel will piss me off just as much, if not more. It will ruin the feeling of freedom in the game. I don't want to be exploring in the countryside where there may be no gas stations, worrying about the gas gauge. Just like hunger, it's pointless, stupid, and piss off 90% of the players.
So why should R* implement features in a game that will piss of the majority of the players? Why should we have to suffer through these lame limitations just because a few people want it to feel more real?
Somebody in here said "There is no point in making stuff like gas optional. If you could make the game easier with a switch you'd take advantage of it more than you'd like to admit." So it shouldn't be an option because people would want to turn it off? That is the stupidest reasoning I've ever heard. If that's the case, why would R* put these features in the game at all?
For all you out there interested in "realism". Go out in the real world and do stuff. I play GTA to steal cars, run over pedestrians, get in unrealistic police chases, and complete missions that are very improbable in the real world. I don't play GTA to feed my character or fill my cars with gas.

Forced shores are of course lame in a game like GTA. Also I don't think having the "option" to turn such features off and on is the right answer.
Here's my thoughts:
Fuel - You should see NPCs stopping as gas stations sometimes, and you should be able to stop yourself and fill up, however filing up your own car should just be an RP feature and not be required.
Food - You should be able to buy stuff to eat to get health back and, if you overeat, to get fat. You shouldn't need to eat to stay alive though, and once you are fat, your bodymass won't go down over time.
Exercise - Exercise should be a way to lose weight if you got fat and want to get thin again, or if you want to get stacked. (weights would do muscle, treadmills and cycles would halp you lose weight).
This way nothing would be required, but everything would be possible, and it would not be such a clumbsy system as to require an on/off switch.

I have a really neutral stand point here, and i dont really see where the problems lie as such, the hunger thing in SA i barely even noticed, unless youve been pottering around doing nothing for 3 days in that game it was barely noticeable, once i lost a reasonable amount of health i popped to a food place to get some health, and at the same time in advertently avoided the hunger issue anyway.
as for fuel, im sorry but alot of you are making alot of noise about nothing, lets face it how often do you keep the same car for any large amount of time?? and if you do keep one "as your own" wheres the harm in maybe once a week of in game time going to top up on gas, that actually adds to that whole keeping the car for yourself ideal surely?
I dont think any people are saying lets do a 9-5 job in an office cubicle and pay taxes or something ridiculous in this game. So i really dont see much harm in either of these features, i could understand if it was a case of having to eat 3 meals a day or something bloody mad.

I already have to park them in a small parking space where taxi drivers honk at me when I park in it. Why should I also have to fill up my gas tank? I know infinite fuel is more lazy, but why can't I be lazy in a video game? As for your point about hunger and fuel. Yeah, I wouldn't have to do it that often, but when the time intervals run out, I still have to do it whether I want to or not. So I'd be forced to use features that i'd rather not bother with, and frankly just having a longer time interval between restaurant and gas station visits does not make it any more enjoyable when I have to do either. I'd rather we do as some other guy in this thread said and just add gas station animations so one can pretend fill up their car if that's really the extent of their fantasies. Food animations are already there, so why not?

Filling up petrol will suck if Rockstar does include it. Eating Im ok with, its a health increase and even in gta sa i don't have a problem with it. After one meal you can go for at least 2 to 3 game days without eating, hotdog vendors and Sprunk machines provide a quick boost, I don't mind a 2 sec eating animation. Now if you can pull up at a gas station at the pump and it fills the car automatically, 2 secs later back on the road, that im ok with. Now imagine this scenario. You get the message 'You are low on gas' so you have to find the nearest gas station, stuffing up the quest that you were on, so you find the gas station, have to get out of the car, go to the pump, press whatever to get the pump off the hook, press another button to squeeze trigger, at the moment we are up to the one minute mark, wait for the fuel to dispense, then another animation of the protag closing the fuel cap and hanging the pump up with a clank. Two minutes, guys. Imagine that all the time. Two mins kickn back waiting for damn gas to fill. Ok so you say 'It won't be that often.' I know that, I just don't want it at all. It would be enough for me to hate the game so much I would snap it and burn it in a fire, made from petrol.
