One of the most versatile runningbacks of my time (a long with Priest Holmes) as far as I'm concerned. If I remember correctly, he had 1,500+ rushing yards with 100 receptions one season. That's just remarkable and is truly sad he doesn't have a ring, let alone a super bowl appearance.

As a Charger fan, it's sad to see him finally retire. He carried the Chargers from 2001-2007 and some of those teams had downright atrocious offensive lines. He was the first and most major step of bringing a troubled franchise out of mediocrity. And yet sadly enough, his career will always be defined by his lack of SB rings (or even appearances), which are really due to a series of freak mistakes from the likes of Marlon McCree, Antonio Cromartie, and of course, Nate Kaeding.

In addition, he might have been the last of his kind- the true, all-purpose, workhorse running back. He could catch the ball (as DOOM said, he caught 100 balls in a season for cripes sake), he could run the ball, he could block, and he could even throw the ball as he had 7 career touchdown passes.

*Holds the all-time NFL record for single season touchdowns (31)
*2nd in all-time rushing touchdowns (145)
*3rd in all-time overall touchdowns (162)
*5th in all-time NFL rushing yards (13,684)
*7th in all-time all-purpose yards (18,456)

What kills me about LT is that NFL record for TDs in a season. That was the very next season after Shaun Alexander had it lol

yeah i know lol. That whole offensive line fell apart too. Robbie Tobeck retired, Steve Hutchinson was "stolen", and then Walter Jones' injuries leading to his retirement as well.

damn shame that he never got any rings.

he should probably have at least 2 with the numbers he put up.

San Diego had their chance the year they went 14-2 and lost to New England in the playoffs.

Ok I know the basic rules of Football so I'm a little puzzled about a decision that went against me on Madden 11 earlier today. I was hoping you guys could clear it up for me.

I was the 49ers against the Steelers and I was in possession of the ball on second down. At the snap, my centre handed it back to my QB who was looking to pass. Suddenly a Steelers play broke my offensive line and tackled my QB just as he tried to pass. The ball left my QB's hand and fell to his right. Just at that moment another Steelers play came in and tried to catch the ball before it fell to the ground, it hit his hands but he failed to grasp it and so it hit the ground and bounced back up a little. After the bounce, the Steelers defender grabbed the ball and then went on to score a touchdown.

I was confused because I thought that when the ball had hit the ground, that was it. The Steelers defender could no longer do anything about it, the play had ended and should have resumed with me on third down.

Am I right? Am I wrong? Is Madden being a bitch? I would love for an explanation please. Thank you in advance.

It may be madden being a bitch.

The rule around that is that a ball is not considered to be thrown until the hand is moving forward. If your hand is moving forward and the ball comes out then it is a forward and pass and the second the ball hits the ground it's a done play. If your hand is not moving forward and it comes out then it is ruled a fumble.

I have however seen this rule completely ignored in a live game. Last year T.J. Yates was going to throw the ball, and did, and yet it was considered a fumble. I swear, referees are f*cking idiots.

Dez Bryant getting in trouble with the law. Is ryu gonna have to choke a bitch?

Also sad about LT. I modeled my entire playing style after him. With great success i might say.

Well, the long road to the Super Bowl begins again! NFL training camps are up and running. Here in NYC, everyone's talking about the Jets circus. Not much drama with my defending champion Giants, and that's how we like it. The biggest question is will Hakeem Nicks be 100% by opening day.

/obligatory my team is going to win the super bowl comment

Oh man....this is going to be a great season full of amazing plays. I just know it. Going against the likes of the Packers, Bears, Lions, Patriots, and Ravens is going to create some of the better games of the year. All of those guys are extreme contenders and I can't wait to watch those games.

It's going to be a wild year - so many questions...

How will Peyton do?
Will the Jets two QB system work?
Can the young Lions take that next step up?
Will Cam Newton suffer the sophmore jinx?
What can we expect from the Saints?
Which rookie QB will have the best season?

People are sleeping on the Seahawks like they did in 2005.

I think the Hawks have a chance. Like none the franchise has ever seen before.

We have a stellar young defense, a young offense that is on the verge of finding their QB that will lean at times on the back of Beastmode.

I like what the Hawks have done so far. Young, big, fast and very very talented players that barely anyone knew.

I dunno if you can call it "sleeping" on them.
most people are just waiting for them to prove it, first.

Seattle hasn't shown that they can hold it together long enough to go all the way, not yet at least.
it's the same reason why I don't sleep on Tony Romo or the Cowboys. I know they've got talent, but they wind up blowing it every year no matter what the hype. people try to build up Dallas every season and every season they suck it up.

if any teams are being slept on it's the 49ers or the Texans.
they're poised to upset.

You don't even know if you guys have a 'decent' quarterback yet. The Seahawks did pick up Braylon Edwards, which is a 'eh' pick up but if he plays he can product, especially with the young WR core the Hawks have.

Atlanta Falcons, yours?

It's getting quite popular these days. There's not a lot of places to play due to the expense of everything, but more people are interested overall than ever I'd say. It's a bit awkward watching games as they go on into the early hours of the morning, but I'd say the overall opinion is very high as once a year two NFL teams play eachother at Wembley and the event sells out pretty quickly.
