Anybody else been keeping track with these stories of recent investigations uncovering a 'Bounty System' in the NFL a few seasons ago? Ran by Rams Defensive Coordinator (then Saints), Gregg Williams the NFL are wanting to have discussions with him and are bringing him in. I always thought the point of defense was to knock the helmet off of whoever had the football, I can't imagine seeing these guys trying to get a extra buck by injuring somebody and if so who cares. I don't mind the idea of it as long as they aren't sending in a third string linebacker to put a helmet into the runningbacks knee or the quarterbacks back with cheap shots then I don't think it's all that terrible.

That stuff has in the NFL for decades, going back to the 50s and 60s. Players have always had 'incentives', whether the coaches were involved or not. The league is making a big deal about it now because of the concussion issue. Bounty or not, these cats are trying to knock out the opposing player. It's what the Giants said they wanted to do to Kyle Williams.

Of course the Peyton Manning Sweepstakes has begun. According to WFAN's Mike Francesca, his sources say the Manning family likes Houston. They don't want Peyton in the NFC and possibly face Eli in a championship game.

What if he's in the AFC? They could play each other in the Super Bowl.

Deep down im sure thats what the brothers would want. I just hope he does stay out of the nfc just for my cowboys sake. Houston has a good QB in Schaub, why throw that away when he could go to Miami which is almost set up perfectly for him they would need to go out and get some guys to protect him.

I'd like to see Manning in Miami; it would make for a interesting AFC East with both Manning & Brady in the same Division. But with Brandon Marshall as his wide-out and the possibility of Reggie Wayne also going along with Manning to Miami it would make for some great football.

Also...

Randy Moss possibly getting picked up by the New Orleans Saints, that would be amazing.

I was listening to Charlie Casserly on WFAN this afternoon. He said Miami and Arizona are the leading contenders, with Denver being a dark horse. Peyton said he'll have his decision within a week - thank goodness. We don't need another Lebron-like circus.

As for Randy Moss, I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole. Dude's a pain-in-the-butt.

I'm predicting that Manning goes to KC. They have a ton of cap room and they actually give him a chance to win, unlike Miami, Arizona, and Denver IMHO.

As fate seems to have it, I had fired up Madden 11, on my Xbox, a saved to HDD demo I'd only played one time prior, the demo is Colts versus Jets, and they really center discussions on Payton Manning, so..... The next day I see his tearful news conference, go figure. He can always do Best Buy ads, don't feel too bad for him.
RE The Saints bounty system, It also impacted the Vikings as they clearly targeted Brett Favre

On the Manning Front, dont count Seattle out. Out of all the teams in contention to land the QBs skills, Seattle has the most cap room with roughly $30 million available according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Seattle is one of the more complete teams trying to land Manning with only two glaring holes, Pass rusher and QB.

Seahawks also have the best training facility in the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in nearby Renton, Washington. And they're out of the limelight as well (like Indy).

He's only interested in Miami, Denver and Arizona. He called his dad out to Denver, so I wouldn't mind having him there for a few years, 4-5 at most. smile.gif

I mean, Elway won championships at the this time in Manning's career, so why not?

Until Manning actually signs with some one its an open race in my opinion.

ESPN is only emphasizing those three teams for some reason, but I can tell you that there are many more teams that are currently clearing cap space in hopes of landing him. There's simply no reason why he'd be interested in only those three teams when none of the three give him much of a shot at winning a Super Bowl.

I really think he's going KC, because they're by far the most complete team that is currently pursuing him.

I don't see what is appealing about the Cheifs.

Arizona is pretty high for contention, Larry Fitz, pretty good defensive. I wouldn't mind him there, since I live in Arizona now. icon14.gif

The Chiefs have a crapload of young talent. Think about their receiving core alone - Bowe, Baldwin, Breaston, and Moeaki. They also have really good backs with Charles, McCluster, and McClain. Now let's consider the defense which has two high first round draft picks in Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey. They have one of the best OLBs in the league with Tamba Hali and a Pro Bowl ILB with Derrick Johnson. Brandon Flowers is one of the best CBs in the league and Stanford Routt is a really good #2 CB. Finally, add Eric Berry to the equation and they have more talent than any other team in the AFC West, including my beloved Chargers.

These teams can have all the best skill players they want but they really need to worry about getting Peyton some good pass protection. Seahawks seem to have a good offensive line would be better if they'd stay healthy, but I really don't see Peyton going to a NFC team.

Kevin Kolb... Don't know if I should think this guy as a f*cking waste or if he wasn't givin' a proper opportunity (seemed like he had nagging injuries) to prove himself.

On another note, the St. Louis Rams are writing off their season by trading away their 2nd pick, which they probably will do. Passing up Matt Kalil, the best lineman in the draft is just stupid. The Rams' O-Line was one of the worst in the whole NFL last year, and they're not giving Sam Bradford the protection he needs to really shine is just bad.

I think rams are more interested in getting a playmaker on offense. They still have the 7th pickbi believe, thry will pdobably go after Blackmon.

Mario Williams is going to Buffalo. Just signed a six-year deal that could be worth $100 million, making him the highest-paid defensive player in the history of the NFL.
