After an almost 5 year break (by the time it comes out) since a major GTA title, will R* have the momentum and support to topple the sales numbers of Call of Duty later this year?
I really don't know, i think GTA is a massive franchise but i just got a feeling that IV did more harm than good for the GTA series, i loved IV and thought the new direction they went was a breath of fresh air, i agree it was not as good as VC or SA but still a good game. I think people would be a bit more cautious so first day sales im not sure but if the game is a mixture of SA and IV then i really do think it can.

That's like comparing McDonalds to a fancy Bistro!
More and more people are aware of GTA's presence. Everybody loves GTA except those f*ckfaces that think It's too violent, or they do play it but they never kill people.
My point is, people are going to pick Quality over Quantity.
COD will outsell GTA, but six months later, gTA will still be selling. A year later GTA will over take that one COD title when the other CODs are out.
It seems to me that francised games, COD, Fifa etc, sell massively in the first few months, but after about half a year no one really buys them. GTA IV for example is still a popular sale item today. COD MW (2) Doesn't seem to be.

Some people say grand theft auto games are getting boring and predictable, but call of duty is by far the most predicable game in the history of gaming. (apart from fifa maybe) Its like activation cant think of new ideas. I have not been pumped for a cod game since mw2 and to be honest i sold it 3 weeks later because it was crap.
OF COURSE.. THIS shouldn't even be a question and IF COD outsells GTA V then the gaming community has gone down a drainhole. I stopped getting COD after black ops and said enough is enough, its all literally the same sh*t.

Yeah, but apparently there aren't many people like you considering each new game sells better than the last.
Unfortunately, GTA is coming out in much longer intervals than it used to since R* likes to take forever making it...back when I was younger, GTA was always fresh in the consumers mind as GTA3, VC, and SA all came out within 3 years.
That will slightly hurt GTA's sales in the immediate short term since a lot of your mainstream casual gamers almost forget about GTA.

It certainly has the potential too sell more then COD but i dont think it will, every year COD seems to smash it old records in terms of sale which is highly strange to me cuz after purchasing the same game year after year one would think people would smarten up and realize the COD franchised has not real changed significantly over the years and you bascially being suckered into buy the same game every year just cuz the can make a really good action packed cinematic trailer
After MW2 i vowed never to buy a COD game again but sadly i did buy black ops cuz i skipped out on playing treyarchs previous game WAW, I didnt buy MW3 and I dont plan on buying BLACK OPS 2 im done with COD till I feel there game is worth buying again

No, parents are all right with killing and swearing but when there are hookers, its a whole big deal; stupid kids. Isn't COD also the one that whores out with promotional products, like mouse pads and Ipod protectors?
