Really can't wait for this game. I love the whole series, even though some people hate all of the ones past the third one. The first one is still my favorite though. That game scared the holy sh*t out of me when I was a wee lad. I literally couldn't play it alone. Silent Hill: Downpour looks very promising. It has all the elements Silent Hill needs: Certain areas have fixed camera angles (just like the first games, which add to the intensity), Realistic combat, chase sequences from Shattered Memories are making a return as well.

We play as a criminal in this adaption, so who knows what kind of f*cked up sh*t we will be seeing. My question is... why was he put in jail? Here's a nice little video for you guys. KoRn is doing the main theme of this game, which is good because it will draw in a newer audience. Music from older games will be making a return as well.

So what do you guys think? Will you be picking this up on March 13th? I know I will be!

I've tried playing them in the past, first when the original came out, and then I gave it another shot with SH2. I've never beaten them though because goddammit, those games rattled the hell out of my nerves. So I found I enjoyed them most by watching others play them instead.

Downpour looks alright, although I heard they were removing some of the staples of the series from it. Like the radio, and I think the fog is going to be replaced by rain? I'm not sure I'm in favor of that decision, unless these were just rumors. I haven't been following the game's development that much though, so correct me if I'm mistaken.

I haven't been either that much. All I knew was the release date. I stumbled across this video, so then I looked and seen if this game was already being discusses, and it wasn't so I made this thread. That video really caught my attention though.

Not sure about them removing the radio, but I know they said they are replacing the falling ashes with rain, and the rain is going to play a big part in Downpour.

Sorry if i offend anyone (not that i care lol), but all silent hill games after 4, SUCK.
Homecoming was OK, but the rest all lost the scare factor 100%. They went the way resident evil went. Resident evil has also 100% lost the scare factor. Downpour looks very stupid, and dont get me started with book of memories for vita...
Im glad the SH2 and SH3 HD collection is coming... but other then that, the series is dead to me now. These amateur developers konami is letting develop the series are ruining it.

I understand what you mean. The Silent Hill series has gone down the same path as Resident Evil did. I enjoyed the first 3 games, but for me, 4 was the one that started to decline in the scare factor in my opinion. I recently played Homecoming, and my God, the controls were harder to get used to than it was to get scared. I enjoyed the reboot Shattered Memories though. That game was a great physiological thriller. I have faith in Downpour. I've been reading up on it, and it sounds very fun. Alot more freedom, and you can explore and do the main story at your own pace, as there will be side quests.

At least the Silent Hill movie was better than the Resident Evil ones. In my opinion anyway.

In my opinion, RE and SH need to stop doing it the way its been going. Look at a great potential game series Capcom ruined because of large changes: DINO CRISIS. They decided to throw the third game out there, and it was a random shooter set in space with robot dinosaurs not even connected to the first 2 games, which killed that series. It could of been the next big series if the third would of been different, and not a crapbox exclusive.

I think the series dipped quite a bit with Homecoming as it seemed so separate from the strong storyline that had been established in previous installments and I don't like how they completely took the combat out of the equation in Shattered Memories. That said, I'll be picking this up as I've played and completed all the main games and my wife really seems to watch me play through the storyline so it's a bit of an obligation at this point.

My only regret is that it comes out less than a week after Mass Effect 3, really bad timing.

Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 are classics. Downpour seems to have taken some inspiration from Alan Wake and I see that as a good thing. When it comes to story driven games, getting the plot, writing and score are paramount. Titles in the series subsequent to Silent Hill 3 have lacked severely in those areas. There appears to be a bit more commotion over Downpour so I'm quietly anticipating a return to form.

I think the mechanics also have to be improved for it to succeed. Alan Wake and Resident evil have excellent mechanics.

They were made by different companies. The first four main games were created by Konami (Tokyo). I can't remember who bought the rights to the series after that.

Word.

This is coming out a day after my birthday but Mass Effect is coming out a week before. I might end up waiting for this to drop in price as I'm pretty worried it'll go the way of Homecoming in terms of satisfaction.

I got it, im sorry i did. It sucks. Graphics are ok, combat is broken, the game is broken, the visuals and voices are broken, and lots of lockups.

IGN panned it with a 4.0/10.
Machima with a 6/10
PS magazine: 7/10

Once again, konami trusts a third party dev to work on a new SH game... it flops. Wow. Im TERRIFIED to see how Silent Hill Book Of Memories is gonna do.. im 100% sure its gonna flop... typicle. What happened to survival horror? RE is all action now, SH is the same... Well, time to review the game on metacritic i guess. RIP silent hill, konamis gonna pull the plug!

My review on metacritic for this turd:
QUOTE
Many glitches, bugs and lags with this title make it very unplayable. The exploration is very boring and is not original, the sound lags out and the story is dull. The graphics are the only good thing about this title. So, ever since SH4, we get horrible "not true to the original" SH games. This proves it. I REALLY hope konami is worried now, cause Silent Hill Book Of Memories WILL WILL WILL fail im 100% sure. Why cant konami get the hint? We want a title from them in house. From KONAMI. Not vatra, climax, ETC. Those third party devs ruined are beloved series. Silent Hill Origins strayed away from the horror, silent hill homecoming was the same, shattard memories lowered the series standards, and this killed it. The end for silent hill is coming, fast unless Konami takes fast action. This title is ALREADY getting mixed to negative reviews. The combat system is broken, same as the game AMY. Your weapons dont sometimes even work like they should, the game sometimes hangs. The animations are WAY off on combat. The game suffers from large framerate drops and full system lockups, and some people are even saying they got RROD/YLOD from this game overheating there system. NOT a good sign of things to come. With this title deeply sending the series off, im terrified to see the outcome of silent hill book of memories. Im sorry silent hill, thank you Vatra for killing our series. To think, vatra said you could compare silent hill downpour to Silent Hill 2... yea ok.

My advice? Buy something better. Buy Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, Silent Hill HD Collection, Resident Evil Revelations, Hydrophobia, Save for Resident evil 6... DONT BUY THIS!

Seriously to be honest, this game is the worst silent hill ive played.

I rate them like:

SH1: 7/10
SH2: 10/10
SH3: 10/10
SH4: 9/10
SH Origins: 6/10
SH Shattard Memories: 6/10
SH Homecoming: 8/10
SH Downpour: 3/10

Most likely, when i get a chance to try Silent Hill Book of gayporn, i will hate that as well.

Seriously? Is it really that bad... I was going to pick it up this week guess i will wait for a price drop then, i'm still looking forward to it.. from the gameplays i saw i know it will be AT LEAST better than Silent Hill: Origins (worst one in the series) which is fine by me
