*the topic description is a joke, just to clarify.
Hey guys, I'm kind of interested as to what music is like in different parts of the world, at the moment.
I'm interested, because, in this international age, one would assume that music taste/style/etc would be uniform across the globe, butttttttt, I'd hope that I'm incorrect...
...mostly because Australia is still suffering the hipster plague of 2010, and thus, music is pretty f*cking terrible.
So what is music like, wherever you guys are from?
well the music here is pretty much anything u will find on mtv... also alot of jpop and kpop and pretty much the local singers here are horsesh*t so no1 listens to them

Well over the last few years most people here on Long Island listen to rap/hip hop or whatever's mainstream on the radio like Lil Wayne. But recently dubstep has become a big thing especially when i went to college. So...i'd still say the music taste is terrible but i know Linkin Park, Metallica and some other bands that i like are coming out with new albums.
If i had to say any decent or good rappers right now in the mainstream it would be Kid Cudi & Kanye West
The radio around here plays nothing but country, country, and more country. Not the older stuff either, the newer, pop-country that will drive you to take an ice pick and jam it into your eardrum after prolonged exposure. The only "local" artist of any note would be Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish.

If you travel to Middle Minnesota, you'll find some Country bumpkins too, I know the feeling. Don Henley of the Eagles made mention of some new country artists he admires, but he's sung about the lack of traditional country, but there should be a fair balance. Seems here, the Southern end of MN, we have two main rock stations, another is a more nu-metal one, not really my taste, though before they set in on a format genre, they were actually a breath of fresh air

Australia had plenty of great bands in the 90s but they are more rare these days. Some good Aussie bands The Avalanches, Regurgitator, The Presets, Grinspoon, Sliverchair, Bodyjar, Machine Gun Fellatio, The Butterfly Effect, The Vines, The Living End, Pendulum and more, I know Im forgetting a bunch.

Well I live in the Netherlands where Electronic House/Progressive/Attack/Trance is really exploding to the mainstream now. Only true House DJ's like Hardwell, Armin van Buuren and Tiesto for example keep their style.

That's because you don't attend concerts and whatnot over in Singapore. We're from the same country, but I bet I know more about it then you do.
Can't find a proper video for some of the songs. Local bands here don't have an official channel.
