| QUOTE (GTA_Link @ Thursday, Feb 23 2012, 08:45) | The food and hunger system, IMO should be better than San Andreas. I propose that player can have a system of losing energy and not being able to sprint when hungry. P.S: The meal system should be like San Andreas, but more vibrant and realistic. Food customization would be cool enough. Also the Pizza Delivery System should more handy. | Because having to eat every hour wouldn't be annoying enough. No, you also lose functionality too. While you're at it, why not have a nagging wife and a 9 to 5 job with a harsh boss. And what about enforced traffic laws, too? Why not house chores while you're at it?

Are some of you people seriously telling me that you want to have to drive across the map to a burger shot every time your hunger meter or whatever gets low? Why? How is that fun? How is it entertaining? Realism does not equal fun or entertainment. It can improve those if used in the right way, but this is so not the right way. What, do you also want to have to go to the bathroom? It's the same principle, really. After a set interval, you'd have to go to the bathroom, just like you'd have to eat with the hunger system back. Seriously though, if you want to have hunger and bladder and all those other motives. go play the sims. Because I'd rather not have a fun tank rampage interrupted by a growly stomach. Tank rampages are fun. Eating is not.

This got me thinking. Do you really want hunger to come back in GTA V or not. When I play GTA SA, I always get sick of having to stop my fun or race out the desert to get to the closest burger shot. If they do bring hunger back, which I guess they will due to the whole money thing, then I hope it last longer so I can carry on playing. What do you think ? |
I think the hunger thing is great. I remember eating was one of my favorite things to do in S.A.
I think they SHOULD put it back because, well; after the game is done - there is nothing left to do.
I want some side distractions to make sure I'm entertained.

What's entertaining about eating? I mean really? |
Actually, paying for the gas/food is realistic and thats how i like to play. Much like Mafia II, it made the game interesting. it wasnt as if you had to pay every 5/10 minutes. it was as simple. Plus, gas stations/resturants are put in the game,so why not make them useful? Mafia kept me entertained also included several missions with the gas stations/resturants.

Food can regenerate lost health, and gas stations can be used in massive ass explosions. Why should I be forced to eat and fuel up my car? And don't use time interval as an excuse for those. That's still doesn't explain why I should be forced to eat and fuel up my car in the first place. Why should I have to do these things when I have no desire to do them? Answer that without using some bullsh*t handwave excuse like "oh, it's realistic therefore better" or "You wouldn't have to do it that often". Those do not explain nor excuse why I should have to keep my car filled up with gas and my character filled up with food. I don't like having to do constant maintenance. It's not a feature, it's a chore. Plain and simple. At the very least make this sh*t optional. I don't want to fill up my car with gas or feed my character every hour. Maintenance is for real life.

| QUOTE (walkingsickness @ Tuesday, Mar 20 2012, 16:49) | I think the reason on why SA did so good (much better than IV imo) is the level of realism in it. Small things like eating was a good reminder that this is, for most who enjoyed playing the game, a direct sim with a conflict as the storyline and that would take your attention off of your real life for a moment.
Having that in this game and the updated graphics would be a plus for me, personally |
There's nothing wrong with realism when it's an actual benefit to the game, but eating, working out etc isn't what I call fun. I have myself to look after. I don't want to babysit a virtual character. Next thing is the protagonist will get the flu and we'll have to go to the pharmacy and get him medicine. So fun. Yep. This sums it up nicely. "I don't want to babysit a virtual character." Eating and working out should only feature as part of other gaming mechanisms. For instance, - Eating to restore health.
- Eating to tailor your body type.
- Working out to tailor your body type.
- Working out to level up physical abilities.
And to be honest, apart from the restoring health bit, most of that could be left out for me. I don't need body customisation. They did it in San Andreas and it was okay. But the novelty has worn off and I could really do without all the button bashing. Niko in GTA:IV was great. He just came as he was and they just wanted you to BE Niko. No need to make him ripped or fat or anything. And as for levelling up abilities, there are far more interesting ways to do that than running on a treadmill or spending time on a cycling machine. These activities might be realistic, but they are boring. It was much more fun to do the ambulance missions in VC to end up with the infinite sprint ability. But eating to stay alive, having to take showers, brush my teeth, going to the restroom for a comfort break. Forget all that. It's just a waste of time. I want to get on with playing my game. I suggest people that want these features should buy themselves a Tamagotchi, or even better go out and do it for real in real life (where you can at least taste the food). -------------------- This post has been edited by meson1 on Tuesday, Mar 20 2012, 15:00
