Great theory, but my only concern is whether the IV era is still canon with GTA V or not. I'm not sure if we'll see any characters from GTA IV returning. Otherwise, this would be a very logical character idea. Sammy Bottino sounds like an original name worthy of being a protagonist. His background checks out and runs with the info we're given in the trailer. Good job.

That makes sense. Also, Roy Zito seems to be a bit unbalanced. According to the police records, he offered Gravelli his kidney for a transplant, but Gravelli refused. Zito still sent him the kidney, in a bucket of ice. Antagonist, maybe?

Possibly. Roy catching up with Sammy and making him to the Gambetti families dirty work- sending orders from the east coast. Then eventually when Sammy stops taking Roy's s**t- Roy come from LC to sort out the problem himself. Kinda like Sonny in Vice City.

I see what you mean. But I've been thinking about it. I don't see any point in R* making a new universe for GTA V or even what they would do to seperate universes. But lets hope they are the same...

Yeah, that is a mark against Bottino, possibly. However, the reason that De Silva was suggested to be the protagonist is the importance the Rush list implied he had (i.e. he was probably cast earlier). Then again, he could still be an important character but not the protagonist. Of course, we won't know any of this for sure for a few months yet. But what an easter egg if it IS Bottino! It was sitting there for four years and we didn't spot it.

I wouldn't give Roy Zito any mind, I mean what cause would he have to seek out a guy who's off the radar living on the opposite coast? Jon Gravelli died so you know Roy Zito inherited the throne. I don't think the Italian mafia will have much of a presence in GTA V. Los Santos, if it really takes after LA, will be devoid of a major crime family. Instead you've got Mexican cartels, black gangs, Asians, and so on.

Albert De Silva might just be a fake name used in the casting call, but I gotta say Sammy Bottino checks out pretty well. Hasn't been mentioned before either. The vice city hit makes sense too, he probably was living in liberty city before he moved. Good find, well done.

I think Zito would be very interested if Sammy Bottino suddenly resurfaced, wherever he is: Zito only became head of the Family because Sammy left, so Bottino would always be a threat to him.

Nope, not a chance. It's quite obvious that the protagonist sounds Hispanic, and can be seen in a window with his back to the camera, in a reflection off of a car between 0:45.7 and 0:45.1 in the trailer.

Actually I didn't think that was Jerry in the trailer. He has $2 million dollars up his sleeve and was planning on moving to Vice City to start a gunshop and liquor store. I don't really know what he would be doing living on the streets of Los Santos.
But hey- who knows?
