You'd really want such a tiny map?

It's not the size that matters, it's what you do with it. Giggity

I think anything over 20sq Miles is not possible these days... but a San Andreas map is very possible, I would give it 13sq Miles.
I think it is reasonable.

I would like to see it at least 3 times the size of San Andreas, which would be about 60 square miles.

Yes, it is very possible, technology has improved vastly since San Andreas. So if they could have a map that big back then of course they could create something 3 times the size, its just lazy of them not to.

I'm goinjg to guess somewhere around 50-70 sq mi. I'm well aware of Dan Houser's comment on V having a "very big map". That coupled with the appearance of the Hydra/Hydra lookalike in the first trailer, leads me to believe that this is going to be a truly massive map, at least for GTa. Not I'm not saying that this will be a densely populated map. In fact, my guess is that the amount of countryside will be significantly more than the actual city itself. And of course there's the mountains.

RDR was 28 square miles.

GTA V is estimated to be slightly larger than 2.5 times the size of RDR.

Do the math, it's going to be somewhere slightly over 70 square miles.

Vastly superior? I don't know about that. The 360 came out in 2006. If we were on next gen, it might be possible. One of the biggest problems people had with GTA IV is that they overhyped themselves for it by expecting things that were unrealistic. I see a lot of that here.

Yeah right. Just Cause 2 is on PS3 and is 400 square miles. Nothing wrong with graphics in that game either.

I have played it, and I agree it's boring, but the point is, maps that size can easily be created for PS3.

I'd also like to add that, it was the storyline and lack of empathy I had with the protagonist that made it boring for me, not so much the map. The map was great to explore, however some parts did feel like copypasta of other sections I've got to admit.

But at the end of the day, that was Eidos's creation, and they have nothing on R*.

i think that this gonna be huge! But Los Santos gonna be just one part of it, of course a lot of litte citys around los santos will make the map very big... look

in San andreas we have 3 big citys LV, SF, LS, but we have Palomino creek, blueburry, fort carson, montgomery, El quebrados, las paysanas, bayside, las barracas and Angel Pine.

I guess that GTA V gonna be like that 2 or 3 big citys and little citys around

sorry for my bad english! confused.gif

The fact is that it IS vastly superior. Both developers of Sony AND the Xbox 360 have repeatedly confirmed that NO game developer has pushed either of the current gen consoles to their full capability. It is the first thing they say when the issue of when the next gen consoles are due for release.
Secondly, several games have already surpassed even the highest expectations of what most GTA fans are hoping for on this forum. I certainly don't expect the game to be anywhere NEAR as huge as Just Cause, but it's not out of the realm of possibility for the map to be 2 to 3 times as large as San Andreas. I agree that Just Cause is mostly cut and paste environment, but it is STILL quite impressive, and looks fantastic for it's size.
I don't know where the statistics for the previous maps square mileage is based on, because they don't quite make sense to me. For example, RDR is said to be 28 SQ. miles, and San Andreas 18, but San Andreas feels larger to me. GTAIV is said to be 4 SQ. miles, but certainly feels much bigger than THAT! Anyhow, Rockstar has made it pretty clear that this will be the biggest map they have EVER worked on, so i'm pumped up.

If the map is indeed 2.5x RDR map size.. Then GTA V will be EPIC!!!! I'm really hopping for a HUGE map! At least bigger than RDR!
