Hi. Today I installed my original copy of GTA IV (with 1.07 patch) again because I now have 4Gb ram. ( I didnt install gta Iv before in this system) but there's a problem that I did not have before some textures are pixelated mostly smoke edges, car windows reflections (all of them), etc. I tried all config combinations in game and in ati control panel. I have no idea what it is. I leave below some images. I hope someone knows how to solve this. Thanks http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/g...0700252372.jpg/System: win7 64 quad core 3.4Ghz ati 3870x2 with latest drivers. 4gb ddr3 1700mhz This post has been edited by MaRcIu on Tuesday, Feb 7 2012, 01:28

I went to install the latest ATI drivers the other night. I have an ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro with 512MB of G-Ram. Running Windows 7 32-bit, and this is a store-bought version I installed from the original DVD. Not a Steam install. Other specs: AMD Phenom X4 9600, (2) 2GB sticks of G-Skill 1066 PC-2 8500 DDR2 Ram on an ASUS M3A board. No overclocking. When I restarted the game, I was suffering this same problem. Heavily pixelated glass textures. Looks like dark triangle shadows in all the windows on the cars, the headlights have standard dot pixels, the lit signs on top of the taxi cabs were pixelated. I don't want to have to reinstall the game. I have tried a lot of stuff to fix it. Uninstalled the ATI drivers. Reinstalled the previous drivers I had (from December of 2011). I cannot just move my card to another slot, because it is a PCI-E card, and that is the only slot on my motherboard. I have used Auslogics registry cleaner to clean out all ATI registry entries when uninstalling the drivers. I have tried all settings of the CCC, and the GTA IV graphics settings as well. Nothing helps. Still have a few options. But it is really frustrating. I have the 1.07 patch installed. From what I gather, I cannot roll the game back to an earlier patch. Not that it would solve my current problem, as I have been playing for over a year now and have not had any problems at all. Will post again in a day or two to update my situation. Oh, here are three screen caps which show what it looks like. All other textures are just fine. Seems that it is the glass textures which are the only ones affected: This post has been edited by BigBadMF on Saturday, Mar 10 2012, 23:16

YES, you can roll back to an earlier patch-all you have to do is revoke the license, back up your saves, then do a un-install and re-install, which will put you back at the vanilla game. Then just install the patch you want-Patch 4 seems the best for performance. However, IF you are on the Steam version, there is still a way-it is just a little harder to do. SlaveZer0 pointed that one out to me. With the 2600 card, it is more than likely better to use Patch 4, as I have heard Patch 7 is more of a resource hog then Patch 4?

Thanks! I will have to do research on backing up my saves. I don't want to have to start completely over, lol. That was something I was unsure of....being able to reinstall, then copy my saved savegames folder to the install folder to be back where I was..... God..this game (I know, it has been said a million times before by everyone else) is so poorly optimized. Last night I set the resolution at 800 X 600 while I was exploring my options, and it blew my mind. Peds and cars all moving in REALtime. I have been playing in LagTime. Don't want to play in less than 1280 X 1024, and I have it set up to be reasonably playable, but the difference I saw last night when I lowered the resolution absolutely freaked me out! I much appreciate the reply, and any info anyone else wants to give me on this subject. Rock on!

One other thing I have to add. Was just now playing again in 800 X 600. I was so used to playing with the game lagging I had no idea what it could really do when playing in a lower resolution. Anyway, in addition to the glass textures being pixelated, the smoke and fire textures are pixelated as well. My hobby for the past couple of months has been crashing cars in Times Square, so that it causes my car to blow up, and starting a chain reaction with other cars, and as they blow up, of course, there are piles of money laying around, which I pickup. So it is not just glass textures, though glass textures are the most obvious with this problem.
