Yeah I even admit that was noob like of me, and I apologize like that, I rarely if ever do that.
Anyhow, I think Ned Luke (or his look alike in the game at lease) looks fit enough to me, and he dosen't seem much older than 40-45 tops in that balcony shot (I know the real Luke is in his 50's though but dosen't mean the protag will) which isn't that old, so he'd still be in good shape if he took care of his body well enough over his life time. |
Well, John Marston was about 38 - 40, No one complained about him being too old, Although it may not matter that much. Plus, Take a look at this. This is a group of bankrobbers in Sweden, An infamous bunch known as "Gubbligan" (Litteraly "The old man gang"), They are between 52 and 72 years old: From left to right: The gangleader Jan "Nisse pistol / Nisse the gun" Nilsson, Ulf "The Stockholmer" Nilsson and Peeter "The blaster" Pohla. Pretty much speaks for itself. This post has been edited by LoggotyroX32 on Monday, Apr 30 2012, 10:11

The look of this Ned Luke guy just does not appeal to me. I just dont wanna play as a 40 - 50 year old in GTA V, even more so that it is set in a sunny, Los Angeles-based location. The apparent plot concept of a washed out, middle-aged, old-time gangster who wants to retire in the sun, gets caught up again in a life of crime - that scenario just makes me wanna yawn.
I wanna see a much younger protagonist (24-29 yrs old), that is full of fresh ambition and enthusiasm for a successful career as a freelance criminal-turned-gangster. The fact that he is younger and more inexperienced makes the storyline even more exciting and interesting, as we able to play a part and immerse ourselves more in his character development when his criminal status improves as we progress further through the game's storyline. A younger protagonist also has a much wider variation of believable criminal connections, and being set in Los Santos, we should be seeing street gangs. It is more plausible for a younger guy to have connections with the streets and gangs, and still have dealings with drug cartels and mafias. A 50-40 yrs old middle-aged man consorting with street gangs just would not make sense to me, even though I know it can happen in real life, it's just not a likely scenario. A younger protagonist just offers much more better options, ideas and possibilities for a GTA game like GTA V.

I'm in that age bracket (26) and I'm not so sure. I mean Niko was 30, but his personality made him feel much older. I guess that's all that comes down to it though. I wouldn't want to play as some young punk who thinks his own sh*t doesn't stink, but someone with inteligence. Maybe he's a failed college student who had the brains to succeed in a legitimate life, but turned to crime instead? I know this is hard for most foreigners to understand as only Aussies would really know, but a couple of years ago there was a show called UnderBelly: The Golden Mile and the main protagonist was a young Lebanese man named John Ibriham. It was based on a true story and he was involved in Sydney's King's Cross drug trade in the late 1980s and bought into a share of a nightclub. He was only in his late teens/early 20s too and quite smart. So I guess a young protagonist could work, but I don't want someone like CJ again. CJ was good in the way he was more human, but his youth radiated at certain times. I'd still rather an older protagonist as I believe their wisdom makes them feel less like running dogs, but a smart young guy could work. I mean lets face it CJ had no choice, but run to the top. I doubt he would've done it if he didn't have his nuts caught in a vice. This young protagonist should have the ambition to succeed like a younger version of Tommy.
