What's your favorite film scene? And why?

Mine is near to the end of the Bourne Ultimatum. The part after he jumps out the window onto the roof, and the Paz dude is behind him. Bourne gets cornered by Paz, and points his gun at him, and asks why he didn't kill him. Bourne replies with "Do you even know why you are supposed to kill me? Look at us.. Look at what they make you give" and jumps into the river.

This is my favorite scene from a film (at the moment) because I like the way Bourne opens the eyes of the same person he used too be. Bourne could have killed him, but one of the sub-plots of the films is how he wants too leave the life he led. I also like the way Paz lowers his weapon as he understands why Bourne didn't kill him. Bourne could have easily killed him, but he knew that he was just a man doing his job, just like Bourne used too be. It shows too me he's not some kick ass (in my opinion) protagonist, but he actually has feelings.

So what's yours?

That would probably fit better into Movies & TV subforum. I have also doubts that such a topic doesn´t already exists over there, but couldn´t find one yet.

On topic:

My favorite movie scene would be this one after short thinking:

One of the last scenes of "Apollo 13", which is one of the greatest films to me.
It´s the scene where Houston tries to contact the command module after black out time due to reentry into atmosphere.
After confirming Houston's call the scene is very emotional to me. Gives me goose bumps everytime.

The talking scene between Pacino and DeNiro in that diner from Heat was also pretty epic, like the whole movie.

I don't know if I could name one, but there are a few from The Godfather, and The Godfather part II which are pretty f*cking good. I'm a huge fan of the Godfather films, as you might be able to tell from my avatar. Honestly I couldn't pick one out, but it would definitely be from one of the first 2 films.

Gotta be honest with you mate, I've never seen the Godfather films all the way through. I only know the "Leave the gun, take the cannoli" scene, which I felt was baws

I have alot of favourite scenes from films (nearly all of them disaster scenes), but this one is high on the list of my favourites:

Also Will's "Now that's what I call a close encounter" line just after that moment.

I wouldn't say these were necessarily my favourite ever, but they're the first that come to mind;

Firstly, from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, the beach scene where Clementine and Joel first meet. It only really makes sense in the context of the film, but that line "This is it Joel" hits me like a bag of hammers every time. The way the dialogue flips between Joel's internal monologue to the actual speech from the memory to natural dialogue between the two works beautifully.

(This isn't the whole scene, but I can't find it on YT)
Second is the opening scene from Inglourious Basterds. The tension is built fantastically, as it becomes obvious that Landa has always known about the people hiding and that everybody knows that he knows. But he keeps up the façade regardless just the twist the knife.

I found another one. The part of Layer Cake where Daniel Craig's character kills Jimmy for screwing him over. I love how high the tension builds up until that crucial moment. The anger he feels at the beginning of the scene, and the peace he feels the morning after, I think is just beautiful. A lot of people say the whole film made him James Bond, but I think it was this scene. The whole film was expertly written from start to finish, but I think this is the scene that makes the film what it is. I like how the way the song playing (Ruthless Gravity - Craig Armstrong, incase anyone was wondering tounge.gif ) builds up tension along with the scene, and then how it turns into a mournful song after the kill.

They're long but worth it. That scene is probably one of the most famous, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was one of the best. A few that spring to mind are the bapstism in the church, the scene where they're sat round discussing the restaurant assassinations, "you broke my heart fredo" and "IN MY HOME! MY BEDROOM WHERE MY WIFE SLEEPS, where my children come to play with their toys"

A few others I like:
-The scene in Point Break where he realises who the guy he is chasing is, has the shot, and then pulls his gun away and fires off into the air
-"it's not your fault" Good Will Hunting
-Scarface chainsaw scene
-Airplane! the 2 kids with the coffee
-The entrance of Darth Vader
-Saving Private Ryan storming the beach

Guess most are pretty cliche, but I still like them.

I can't think of anything definitive. Flipping through my collective memory, a scene from Apocalypse Now pops up; The "Do Lung Bridge" scene.

I'm not sure why, but that scene is etched in my mind at the moment. That was the moment of madness I most remember. There was sure as sh*t no turning back from there.
For more of my favourite scenes, see: Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, The Godfather II, The Usual Suspects, The Deer Hunter, Goodfellas, Easy Rider and Dr. Strangelove. Because, as far as select scenes go, I can't be f*cked searching for any "favourites", and any I could come up with would surely be apart of the aforesaid movies.

Not my "favourite", but I watched The Dark Knight yesterday, so this scene comes to mind. The one where Harvey is lying in his hospital bed, wakes up, and notices the coin next to him. The fact that the only sound that plays is the ominous tone in the backround, makes it really powerful. For me, at least.

Off the top of my head, one of my firm favourites has to be the final scene of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 1974. It was one of the first horror movies I was exposed to, and it was something that both scared me and inspired me. The whole film has this uneasiness about it, like it's been shot awkwardly and clumsily on purpose. We see no gore, and as far as psychological, suggestive thrillers/horrors go, it isn't all that great. For some reason though, it's one of my favourite films and I can't place why. Maybe this scene cements it. So close yet so far, Leatherface? Bonus points for the "dance" of frustration at the end, cutting immediately to the credits. Going from a roaring chainsaw to deathly silence is almost as startling as going from deathly silence to a roaring chainsaw.

I think what unsettled me the most is you can see Leatherface lumbering along the path in the background.

This (specifically the dialogue part):

I love David's character as Ellie's dad. He seems like a very calm and caring person. I know this probably sounds silly, but I always remember this scene when I think to myself that I have to be a good person, sort of like that character.

The reveal in OldBoy on first watch is truly mind-blowing and I am not one to throw such hyperboles around.
