Then you should try overclocking the CPU, but don't go mad with it wink.gif

If you do seem to get it stable, watch the temperatures.
It might come in handy to buy a high-quality CPU cooler for better cooling.

Hitsnapper, can you explain what you mean by lag? Also, what frames per second are you getting? Use Fraps to find out. Run it during the game to find maximum and minimum fps. Your in game graphics settings and benchmark would be useful too.

When I say lag I mean low fps and it only gets low when rendering the world.

I meant CPU mate. Your video card is fine, IV is heavily CPU dependent and will love every bit of MHz it can get.

When the game loads and you see all those pictures in the beginning the fps is about 500 or more but when the game is half loaded the fps is lowered to 10. After the pictures and the sceen go black and when you can see "loading ........." in the corner the fps is 2200. The game starts at 100 fps in a small room and rises quick up to 400. when moving in the room the fps is about 350. I go outside and the fps falls to 1 for mabye 2 sec and when place is loaded the fps is at 100. This was at lowest graphics but the fps is not very different from the suggested graphics.

Sorry but how can I overclock the CPU? My friend plays GTA IV with a 3.06 dual core processor and it works fine for him. How does that work? I've checked what steam says and it says that only a AMD athlon x2 2.8 ghz is needed.

what are his graphic settings? and what are the other components of his computer?

yes, but it needs other components to take up the slack, and rockstar has always been lax about providing the proper system requirements for their games

Okey. Graphics is on the lowest settings. What do you mean with components? I don't know what that is.

Components is another word for other parts (of the PC) wink.gif

Where can I find a good "required components" site? Can you link one?

This laggy problem just faded away!!!! I recieved a new update for my graphics card and while I was playing Day Z (not laggy), I dicovered that the fps were higher and that stuff rendered faster so I went on checking Slender game that was also lagging and... zero lag! Highest graphics optiones, no problemo. I had given up GTA IV for a loooong time but decided to try it out. Zero lag on that one too! So all was some sort of bug in the Nvidea graphics card driver. (I havn't installed any new components since I bought the game to my computer if you think that was real problem) wink.gif

Yes, it does sound like something mechanical. Download this http://www.piriform.com/speccy and start the program. After it finishes collecting the data go to file > publish snapshot and paste the produced link here.
