Well, I've had this problem for awhile and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

The first saved slot has slightly smaller text (or the space for the text is smaller) and it's causing the text to not be lined up with the rest. I've also noticed that occasionally, for no apparent reason, that saved slot corrupts. I don't have any code-based mods that mess with the menu system or any savegame-based mods either so I don't have a clue why this is happening.

It's just so weird. Has anyone seen this before?

Well, the text is shorter because 1 is thinner than 2. Yeah, that font isn't exactly monospace.

And more information about the slave slot corruption? Maybe a screenshot about that instead. It could be a few different things depending on whether the save entry text is messing up or SA is telling you that the save slot it corrupt, etc. But just don't install crapily made CLEO scripts Although, a large majority are made in some bad way.

I'm not sure if the text bug and save game corruption are related. I just listed both in case someone could magically see a connection. I agree with you about how too many flawed CLEO scripts are made.

[FOR TEXT BUG]
When I've removed all CLEOs, all ASIs etc., the textual problem is still there. My font.txd is not the default, it's the "High definition Diploma font to SA by Narcis_speed6" but when I reverted to the original, the problem was still there. I can't imagine what's causing it and it's really annoying to look at.

[FOR SAVEGAME CORRUPTION]
I can duplicate it by repeatedly saving the game. Ex. if I save 2+ times. What happens:

1. It never warns me that the save I just made is corrupt. The EXE just crashes = no text on menu screen, frozen cursor waiting. Press Escape and see the game crash error and then the EXE closes. Hello desktop.
2. When I start the game again and look at the load game screen, there are garbled nonsensical characters. Screenshot: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/savegamebug1.png/

I've checked the usual culprits (vehicle and player mods) and found nothing. When I say checked I mean, checked if everything was good/properly installed and if it was, removed them to rule them out. I do have an opened up type SCM mod that gives early access to islands, shopping, buying property etc.

Since CLEO's and ASI's aren't generally known for attempting to change game save names (aka opcode 0318, "latest mission passed"), the main culprit would be the "opened up type SCM mod".

I vaguely remember reverting the main.scm and script.img files back to the original, playing the missions until properties opened up and experiencing the same bug. I will try this again though to be certain.

Make sure your GXT files are reverted to their original as well. As these are what the save game names are set according to (the mission names are used after you complete that mission).

Okay, I've reverted to the original GXT and original main.scm, script.img but I still have both bugs.

Persists despite emptying my root folder and reverting back to original files. Ideas welcome...?

[FOR SAVEGAME CORRUPTION]
Finally! It's actually the presence of CLEO3 itself, the ASI that's been causing my save game corruption. I had already removed all my CLEO scripts and everything else imaginable and was still getting the problem. But when I removed the cleo.asi, suddenly my problem was resolved. Now, I don't know if the ASI itself is bugged or if it just doesn't agree with something from my modded game. I'd really prefer to keep using it (no desire to switch to CLEO 4) so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me.

What might be conflicting with the cleo.asi?
Or is the cleo.asi itself bugged?

Any insight or help would be most appreciated!

CLEO itself does nothing with the original saves. The only thing related to it is that it hooks the save/load functions in the exe and make/load the cleo saves when they are executed. The problem might be caused by one of the CLEO plugins such as Scm500k.cleo or Scmlog. If you removed them, I can't see any other reasons. And I dont have the CLEO 3 sources on my computer, so can only tell by heart.

Thanks Seemann. Is it possibly having trouble overwriting CLEO saves? It seems my first couple of saves go well but then I hit the 3rd, 4th or 5th and the corruption occurs.

cleo 3 or 4 ?
if cleo3 then put gxthook.cleo into cleo folder

or do you have problems with your own created fxt's?
