Niko Bellic based on grand theft auto IV canon would never ever be a russian mafia gang leader. But in GTA 2 there is no one to lead that gang exept for him. And if there is gonna be a serious remake like with grand theft auto III, russian mafia probably would be included. That means Niko character returned, but only as a russian mafia leader, Jerkov.
So what could happened to Niko durning GTA IV -G.T.A. 2 timeline. My guess is that niko screw up and lost his right leg in the most painfull and gruesome way imaginable, probably cause of this was grenade explosion. Pain of losing not only Roman, but a leg as well was unbelliveble. Losing his leg was more intence of course. He spent couple of years in the hospital where he in piece and quiet relived "the end of the world". After that he start to change in to a man, a legend that later would called himself, Jerkov. Which is a nod to niko past, a bar where he and his cosin like to drunk together. Jerkov would combine rage of michael faustin, cold mind of Dmitri Rascalov and insane fear factor of Ray Bulgarin.
Jerkov would be very wise. He is a legend in grand theft auto world comparable to Uncle Fu

Billy Grey, the dead lost mc gang leader suffered from his heavy addiction to heroin which lead him to uncontrolable anger and some wise decisions.
Ray Bulgarin said once that if "the money tell you to cut your f*cking leg off" you probably do it because "money is better then a f*cking leg". That is what mr. Jerkov would argue with in another period of time.
In a movie "Saw" dr. gordon saw his leg off in order to save his family. In "Saw 3D" he became the big bad himself.
G.T.A. 2 timeline is 2013, according to official site at least.

What do you think, if instead of russian mafia there would be fully based russian goverment. Russian goverment manage to fight large piece of Anywere city.
Russians from there select president for the country. And one of the candidates is Jerkov. Ridiculious isn't it ?
I can imagine like Jerkov, with his new metal left leg and red hat. Hearing out the other candidate, then like shoot him in the head and everyone like "iiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa our new president is Jerkov. Vote for Jerkov or Die!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Serbian is not Russian. Serbia and Russia are two separate countries. And really, CJ is Niko's brother? You've got to be kidding me.

"Consulting Hans Jerkov" is nothing more than slang terms for "masturbate" and that was the thing Sweet was talking about.
Jerkov's name in GTA2 is coming exactly from the same place: "To jerk off"
GTA 2 wasn't continued in any way nor have any connections with the rest of the series except references (Zaibatsu Pharmaceuticals and beta car names in GTA III)

Niko isn't Sweet (My god, how "intelligent" you have to be to came up with something like this), Jerkov or any other person in any GTA.

I'm a bit late to the party, but when was this image is released? At the times of GTA2? Yes I see the "Z" boxes, Zaibatsu (or whatever gang they are) cars, and a GTA2 style weapon near the Niko-like guy. The image is so small I couldn't tell if its IV era or not.

Also that Jerkov never looks really like Niko.

also, Jerkov and Niko look a like, but Niko ain't Russian...
