| QUOTE (Miamivicecity @ Monday, Apr 2 2012, 04:47) | | QUOTE (MrDanceWithLance @ Monday, Apr 2 2012, 13:35) | GTA Vice City has a better storyline and a better location, but GTA San Andreas has better gameplay.
Ifthe games were judged by gameplay, I would say GTA San Andreas was better but if it was judged by storyline, location or protagonist, I would say GTA Vice City is better. |
Personally what I like about VC's gameplay is it's simplistic. I don't have to worry about some nagging girlfriend, going to the gym to beef myself up, attend to my turf as it's being attacked etc.
Just me and the city and nothing else. I've always felt SA complicated things by throwing in elements I never thought would be in a GTA game. I like VC's more "natural" feel to it where I can just chill out and not have to worry about any outside annoyances. | Strangely, it is because of these "outside annoyances" that makes people like GTA San Andreas. I never liked the hunger system, but I enjoyed the gang wars and the girlfriends. It pleases me to kick the @$$es of rival gangs. But I hate it how you have to eat once every three days or you die.

| QUOTE (bluesboyjr @ Sunday, Apr 1 2012, 00:07) | Vice City all the way. The storyline was wonderfully written (in contrast to SA's case of ADHD), the characters were great (especially, Tommy, the biggest badass in any GTA game), the game has the best licensed soundtrack of any video game to date, the city is beautiful without an inch of wasted space, and every feature adds to the game.
In this case of Quality over Quantity, Quality wins. | Could you elaborate on SA's case of ADHD ? I'm somewhere in between. I disliked the actual map of Vice City - the wasted beach for one, which was like 1/4 of the map. However, the story and the atmosphere was second to none. Vice wins here. SA for features and environment definitley. I loved the countryside and the freeways. Hours of fun. The story got a bit silly halfway through though. VC: Story and Atmosphere SA: Environment and Features.

Could you elaborate on SA's case of ADHD ? | Well, like you said, after you leave Los Santos it all starts getting a bit silly. You start off as a street thug who is being blackmailed by corrupt cops, but then you're helping some nerd defeat his business rival, then you're killing some construction workers for hitting on your sister, then you're blowing up a plane full of aliens for a shady government agent, then you're stealing a jetpack from a secret military base for some hippy you barely know, then you're conducting an over-the-top casino heist. The start and end of the story are among the best in the series, but the middle feels like irrelevant filler.

SA: The characters. +50 The vehicles, so many cars and planes. +15 Customization: All of the cothes, and how I could buy upgrades for my car. +30 Weapons. +50 Map. +100 Protag, CJ was actually more realistic than Tommy IMO. 50/50 Overall score: 295 VC: Atmosphere. +100 Weapon sounds. +100 The 80s +50 Overall score: 250 So in my opinion, SA is better game, I spent litterly hundreds of hours playing this game on PS2. Ahh memories VC is also a very good game, because I spent around 3+hours on this game with my parents, siblings and friends. Nostalogia

SA tries too hard to cram in as much as possible IMO. It's not that the story is horrific, but it fell apart after LS.

SA of course, but only if they include support for 4.2.1, otherwise there is no point for me being excited.
Obviously, VC is better than IV in many aspects, but extremely small map, static camera angle, lots of wasted space, small variety of missions and only 2 proper islands is what makes me choose SA.

| QUOTE (Hydro_PlayboyX @ Friday, Apr 6 2012, 13:08) | -CJ was f*cking annoying -SA had too much dead space -i loved the atmosphere in Vice City -VC had much better storyline, etc. | I totally agree with you, man. I liked GTA San Andreas's three cities, but everywhere else was mostly bland, wasted space. Also, GTA Vice City had a way better storyline and atmosphere. I seriously don't know why anybody would want to pick CJ as their favourite protagonist. He is so annoying, tries to act cool when he isn't, and he acts like a girl when threatened at gunpoint.
