No need for spoiler tags man. But yeah, I really don't think Skyler will kill Walt because we see him in the flash foward at Denny's a year later. If you look closely, you will see he is not wearing a wedding ring. It's possible she could kill him sometime at that point, but in my opinion, it looks like he is far, far disconnected from his family. I mean, spending his b-day alone in a Denny's and purchasing an M60? Family values doesn't seem like a concern anymore, lol. Skyler is probably either dead, or divorced him at this point. I think it's more plausible that Skyler rats him out to Hank, and Walt uses Saul's "disappearer" guy to relocate him to New Hampshire. I keep wondering what brings him back to New Mexico though... and why he needs an M60! This post has been edited by GTA-King on Friday, Aug 3 2012, 17:24

| QUOTE (Icarus @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 19:19) | I almost want a Saul Goodman spin-off.
He is, by far, my favourite character in Breaking Bad. |
lol, they could do so much with a Saul Goodman spinoff. I think it depends on how Breaking Bad ends though. On a serious note, Icarus. Did you notice how at the end of the last episode Walt mentions flying too close to the sun? I'm pretty sure he's talking about Mike... but it could be Jesse as well. "Flying too close to the sun" is from the story of Icarus, I'm sure you know. Here's the story for those who doesn't: "Icarus' father Daedalus, who was a master craftsman, was hired by the king in order to build a labyrinth under his castle to protect the king. After it's construction, the king imprisoned both Icarus and Daedalus in the highest tower of his castle in order to keep the secret of the labyrinth safe. In other words, Icarus and his father were the only people who knew how to get out of the labyrinth and he didn't want that secret leaked. Daedalus would often look out the window and study the birds. After observing them for some time, he gathered up feathers that he found and made wings by fastening them down to a strap with wax.
The wings were to be used to escape from the tower. After months of training, they were ready to set out over the sea. Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sea, or the spray would wash the wax off nor too close to the sun, for it would melt the wax. Icarus didn't listen and got carried away thinking he was like a god and flew too close to the sun. All of his feathers became loose and his wings were destroyed. He fell and drowned in the sea while his father flew on alone, crying."The question is... who's who in this story? Walt's "flying too close to the sun" line must have more meaning, due to all the symbolism on this show.

Oh hell yeah Saul's comic relief is much needed, and very snappy. The story about Icarus is cool (thnx for sharing, i never knew the full backstory) but it's simple. It's not Jesse, it's Mike, for sure. He feels he flew too close to the sun because of the way he dictated Walt on how to spend his money.
But GTA-King, i just wanted to say i don't think your Omega theory is that far fetched. I mean, just look at the bottom pieces of bacon in the 5 and 2. They are clearly shaped like that for a reason, because they are both quite pointy, and that's no coincidence imo. Maybe that's the closest they could get to the Omega sign. And they sure love symbolism on this show (even though not everyone is smart enough for it).

the only problem with Skylar ratting him out to Hank is that she would have to forfeit all the money they made. and that means she would have nothing left for herself, Walt Jr, or the baby (does the baby have a name?? I forget lol...). having nothing left would kind of defeat the purpose of everything that happened in the last few years. it would even mean that what happened to Ted happened for nothing, and we know that Skylar still cares for him and feels responsible. at this rate I just wouldn't be surprised if it was Sky that forsakes Walt in some dramatic fashion in the final episode. maybe they do drift apart and divorce peacefully and whatnot. but even so, the repercussions of Walt's violent takeover of the meth trade may still be felt by Skylar and the family because you have to believe that Hank is still investigating the extent of the Pollos Hermanos scandal. every night when she's watching the news she's going to hear about all the crazy sh*t going on and she'll KNOW that Walt is behind it. she knows that Walt puts Hank in danger as Hank gets closer and closer to uncovering the truth. I mean no matter how far apart they get, Sky will likely fear that she can never truly relax or feel safe while Walt is still alive and running his empire.

I took the Icarus comment to mean one of two things: either Mike will be killed or the nine guys still on the payroll will be assassinated.
There's just a couple of issues, though.
A. If Walt kills off the nine people who are receiving legacy pay, well, Mike loses a major incentive to work for Walt, since he's trying to make sure the guys in prison (or who are about to be swept up by the DEA) stay silent. It's hard to want to keep silent when your cash motivation has been seized under the RICO Act.
B. If Walt kills Mike, it makes his business a lot more difficult, since Mike is Walt's connection to the people who supply the equipment and chemicals. While I am sure Walt is smart enough to figure out a way to get what he needs without Mike, that causes some delay in production, which I feel for Walt, is unacceptable.
I guess we'll see if any more details unfold on Sunday.

| QUOTE (Johnny Playert @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 20:05) | | QUOTE (GTA-King @ Friday, Aug 3 2012, 19:41) | Well, the thing about that omega symbol is that it doesn't necessarily look like Walt's bacon 52... but it does look like a 52. I mean, it has to mean something, I think.
Ahhh, but some people might say Walt is Icarus... and he is flying close to the sun. It could be interpreted in many ways. |
Walt already flew way too close to the sun by killing Gus. By killing everybody he has killed along the way actually. Hell he's flying too close to the sun ever since he's cooking crystal meth with a brother-in-law in the DEA. Or cooking meth in the first place. What's your point? |
My point is, that Walt's comment is left up to the viewer to figure out. Was he threatening Jesse? Was he planting another seed in Jesse's mind that Mike must be killed? I'm sure things will come to fruition here soon though. I just thought it was neat how the Icarus story could be perceived. I do agree it will make things complicated for Walt's empire if he killed Mike. He would basically lose all of his connections, as well as Jesse's trust... which is very important to Walt I think. Them two have been together since the beginning, and I do think Walt is loyal to him, in a very manipulative kind of way. @El_Diablo: That is very true. Skyler chose to be a part of Walt's criminal career. If Hank knew Skyler was helping Walt launder his money, who knows what he would do. Skyler is close to the edge, I imagine if she doesn't rat out Walt to Hank, she'll probably take the kids and get as far away as possible from him. But anyway, I'm sure more will be explained Sunday. I cannot f*cking wait! This post has been edited by GTA-King on Friday, Aug 3 2012, 21:43
