In my opinion, the first gen 900 still looks awesome.

I'm importing one from sweden in 3 years. If not, I'll buy a GM-gen 900 here

I remember the first half-posh car we had in the family was a Saab. It was a Saab 9000, much more comfortable than the Yugo we had. God, how I'm poor...

Can you share some pics of the interior with us? biggrin.gif

Haven't got any pics of our interior, but this is what it looks like:

Difference being ours has perforated leather and is RHD.

Difference between Night Panel mode and normal:

The Televisions in the back fold away unobtrusively:

Swedish man not included.

Edit: The seats are very cushy; base fore & aft, up & down & inclination, as well as backrest angle & both lumbar supports, are electric. Thigh support & headrests are manual (Booo! tounge2.gif). Tons of legroom. The steering wheel, like the rear TV setup, is also a Buick item: disappointing that it's not available with heating even though on the Buick it is. Would make sense for those Nordic winters.

Never really cared too much for Saab up until last March. I inspect vehicles that are sold at auctions and vehicles that were repossessed or being rented, and these Saabs came through. The newer Saabs really caught my eye, and I really started liking them. I always knew about the older Saab, but wasn't that interested in the. Sucks to see Saab fold, even though I knew it was coming.

Why is it that automatics with leather boots always look much more like nut sacks than leather boots on manuals?

Also, the whole rolling theater Saab thing posted above doesn't impress me much. I thought they were supposed to be fun driving machines (99/900/9-3,etc). That thing looks like pretty much every other generic sedan made these days. Really, what's the difference in a fwd automatic saab and a camry? Seems like the boring formula. The whole FWD thing seemed a lot better and cooler in the older models with less power (with odd engine configurations and manual trans).

If you sit in one, it feels different, believe me tounge.gif
The very first time I sat in a 900 it was incredible - it felt like no other tounge.gif

I knew you would type that tounge.gif

And the "rolling theater" isn't meant to impress anyone. It's to shut the kids up on a long journey. Or watch Ghost Dog on Disc whilst riding back from a Saab Rally in February.

And it's AWD.

Still sounds incredibly boring compared to this.

I expect a Saab to be a driver's car. Like a FWD BMW. Not that thing that looks about as boring a Chevy Malibu.

And you know what will shut kids up? Instilling fear by smacking them. Not making them spoiled little c*nts with their own DVD players.

That's more or less how I'd describe how I think they should be. A semi-luxury sporty driver's car like a BMW, but FWD. Seems that was their formula from the 70's-90's.

There are no FWD driver's cars. BMW purists would never consider a Swedish car.

Ours is faster than all those anyway.

Are you missing the f*cking point or what? They lost their edge making Vauxhalls with theaters in the back seat when they should have been making badass fun to drive cars like they used to.

There's no point to miss. Saab's design was final before Vauxhall penned theirs; our car is Mad Fun to hoon around in just like all the previous Saabs we've owned (which had tellys in the back too) and anyway, show me one manufacturer who doesn't whore out their platforms left, right & centre.

The Holy Trinity have been doing it for half a Century.

Bear in mind I ain't attacking your views Lurch; you're one of the Coolest members of this board. I'd simply prefer you see & drive the latest 9-5 before discounting it outright. I find it Fabulous.

The Germans have always been lucky enough- or astute enough- to manufacture products which people will buy again & again. VAG are the exception; this new MQB malarkey will underpin everything from Polos to Phaetons (and so the ever hateful Cont GT). It's deeply, seriously uncool.

I do of course agree with Lurch in principal; I'd much rather each manufacturer did their own thing, however that would result in the Death of a thousand marques overnight. The British auto industry wouldn't exist at all. This here's the lesser of two Evils.

Saab have their own, unique platform all ready for manufacture (Phoenix): that's what GM doesn't want the Chinese to get their mitts on.

Hey Outcast, how come you diven't import? If I understand correctly you DO have the resources?
