What a Saab Story, but don't cry a river of tears just yet, Maybe they can still restructure and recover, I don't see them lacking the product in lineage sense anyway. Haven't followed them in current years, but I did ride in one once upon a time | Are saabs rare in the states?

Are saabs rare in the states? | Not even. They just arent very popular with the kids who buy honda civics and rice them all to hell when a 9-3 turbo could destroy a kitted up honda with ease. As 4 bangers go you really can't do much better than a saab.

| QUOTE (silvermanblue @ Wednesday, Jan 4 2012, 03:23) | | I love the look of the old 900 turbos. But almost all of them I have looked at had some serious issue. |
our mother grooms and cut dogs for half a living, one of her customers has 3 900 turbos, all beefed up to 250hp. He says he has had incredibly few problems with them, and recommend me to buy one as a first car (for the record he also has 2 MG roadsters) This post has been edited by jaysteels on Thursday, Jan 5 2012, 16:38

(for the record he also has 2 MG roadsters) | I imagine you'll struggle insurance-wise if your in Europe, but they are pretty notorious for being bullet-proof mechanically. The bodies, however, are very prone to rot.

They're Insurance Group 15 in the UK, or about 40 if you use the new Europe-wide system. To put that into perspective, it's the same insurance group as a BMW 325i and Renaulsport Clio 200 Cup, and only one group lower than a Civic Type R or Lotus Elise 111S. You've mentioned before you don't drive yet- as a first car for a new driver under, say, 21, with no driving experience, an Insurance Group 6 1.6 Focus would cost a little under £2k. For a Group 15 car, you may well be looking at £7,000 just for insurance. Or about 10 times the value of the car. British prices, but I know things are much the same elsewhere in Europe.

This is our 2010 9-5 Aero Turbo-6. It was a total steal and feels like a spaceship next to everything we've ever owned. I'm not too chuffed about the colour (wanted Red obviously) but the dark grey leather with brushed dark titanium trim cuts a fine dash, save for the jarring white headliner (no black option). The car is fully specced with everything including fold-out rear DVD monitors and panoramic glass sunroof, aswell as the adjustable suspension with three modes (rare option). The only things it lacks are ventilated seats, self-park, lane departure warning and rear climate-control (no rear sunshade(s) available). Power & torque are smooth, effortless and utterly addictive. Comfort on the 19s is amazingly high; bumps are registered, but they barely ruffle the well-insulated cabin, whose ambience, awash with the very Sexy green Saab lighting, is a proper treat at night. The autobox is so intuitive we still havn't once tried the paddles. We recently had it Hirsched to 331BHP & 480nm of twist. Top speed we've achieved (on a closed road ) is 137MPH... ..So far.
