Huge 3-team trade:

Lakers get: Chris Paul
Hornets get: Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic
Rockets get: Pau Gasol

I would have liked this trade more (but not completely) if we only lost Scola OR Martin. But instead we lost our entire in-out game and a serviceable backup point guard. Not sure why Houston had any part of this deal, because they only saved $3mil in cap space. Gasol is owed a f*ckton of money ($57 million over 3 years) and is 31 now. This doesn't help us whatsoever. Rebuilding mode AGAIN. They are also rumored to be pursuing Nene from Denver. It would help the front court but we have no one to score now.

The Lakers, on the other hand, now have a video-game-ridiculous back court and kept Bynum for a potential Dwight Howard trade down the line. What the f*ck man.

I don't like how every team in the league now thinks they need three superstars to be a contender. There are 8 good teams in the whole NBA and the rest are fodder. This sort of thing is not good for the health of the league.

Somebody else weigh in here because I want to go punch an infant.

As a Celtics fan this is another reason to hate the Lakers. We're f*cked this year. I'm really starting to hate Danny Ainge unless he can pull off another monster trade like 2008 but that is highly unlikely.

That aside I'm also f*cking stoked the Clippers have apparently got Caron Butler now (yeah I dig the Clippers, just wish they would go back to my home town of San Diego). Tyson Chandler also goes to the Knicks. Maybe he can actually help the team what they can't seem to do right....defend.

Butler will be a deeper option for the Clippers, which hurts his fantasy value but adds some much needed depth.

I like Chandler in NY because they could use some front court defense, but Chandler isn't really the kind of center D'Antoni usually goes for. He has zero ability to score on his own. It may still work out, though.

The owners and Stern have blocked the Paul trade: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21718..._Paul_To_Lakers

What I don't understand is how? The NBA is all about matching money, so as long as everything evens out things are supposed to go off without a hitch. What I think is that the NBA is trying to sell the Hornets (since they basically own them) instead of contract them, and this trade would kill their selling power. Sounds like f*cking tampering to me, but from the league office.

Funny thing is is that Hornets would be getting some good players and a 1st round draft pick. Chris Paul obviously doesn't want to be in New Orleans and rumors are surfacing that he won't even show up for camp, I honestly don't think he is a good fit in LA anyways, they need a 'real' and non-injury prone center to compliment Kobe. It also looks like Dwight Howard is heading to the Nets.

Nets get Dwight Howard
Magic get Brook Lopez and two 1st round picks

Doesn't look like that's gonna happen now. The Magic seem too pissed to just let that happen.

Speaking of the Magic, Celtics sign and trade Glen Davis to get Brandon Bass. This is a f*cking steal in my opinion. Glen Davis had some flashes of greatness off the bench for some of the season but by the end he was just flat out painful to watch. Didn't seem to be on good terms with Doc Rivers either. Whatever though.

Brandon Roy has retired.
It's not entirely shocking, but still quite sad. So young.

I think it's time that the Blazers' fans start admitting they made a mistake drafting Greg Oden over Kevin Durant . . . and that they are doomed! Doomed, I say. Doooooomed! tounge.gif

I'm glad to see the Paul and Howard trades fall through. The "superteams" are pushing me further away from the NBA, to be honest. It's just going to become less interesting to watch over the next few years.

superteams aren't just in the nba though, we've seen them with the eagles in the NFL and the miami marlins have been spending crazy money this offseason. i agree with you though it's not good for competition.

My Knicks finally got the big man they needed. But my problem with this team has to do with the coach.

I've read Tyson Chandler and Knicks have come to a agreement but they must wait for something, not for sure what.

But many other Leagues have rules and regulations to stop these sort of things.

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed in principle for a deal sending Chris Paul and two future second-round picks to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a Minnesota first-round pick.

The Clippers have a fun roster now. I want to play as them on NBA2K. DeAndre Evans, Baron Davis, Mo Williams, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, and now CP3. Also that pick belonging to Minnesota could end up being #1 overall. The Clippers gave up quality young pieces but it's a great deal for both sides.

Baron Davis is with the Cavaliers if I remember correctly or unless he changed teams during this off-season.

CP3 to Griffin already sounds exciting with the addition of Caron Butler it should be interesting. I think they'll struggle inside defensively with Kaman heading out.

I had a fun Christmas Day watching my Knicks beat the hated Celtics. Knicks defense needs a lot of work, but at least the effort was there. Sucks losing Shumpert for 2-4 weeks.

Need to get my hands on an NBA.tv pass, as trial ends on the 9th Jan. sad.gif
Can't be arsed searching for semi-laggy streams, when this thing works in HD and perfectly.

Watching Knicks vs Lakers game of yesterday right now. Good stuff.

As someone living in South Florida, watching the Heat bandwagon form since LeBron happened has been interesting. People who never watched sports are now die hard heat fans. turn.gif
