Underrated: Mafia II. I love this game even if most don't.

Took the words straight out of my mouth.
I definitely think CoD is over-rated.

Overrated: CoD series. They are fun for a little while but are repetitive. Don't deserve that much praise. It's amazing so many people like it but I find that popularity, for the most part, is overrated if that makes sense. (Kinda the definition)
Underrated: Mad Maestro for PS2. It was a orchestra game that heavily used the pressure sensitive buttons to make the instruments play well. It was a big challenge.

Most underrated, 007 Blood Stone.

I agree. I loved Blood Stone and it had a really fun campaign. Too bad it couldn't of been longer.

Blood Stone was terrible. mercie_blink.gif The only interesting parts of the game were the driving sequences, and they weren't that interesting.

I found it really fun. A lot of people say it's terrible but I disagree.

I personally enjoyed it, agree that is not a blast, but still deserved more for the nice detailed maps and good optimization.

Most underrated: MAFIA II! Seriously, it's a great authentic game with a great narrative and fun gameplay. Reviewers bashed it because it didn't have free-roam.

Since when does an open-world game have to include free-roam to be considered a good game? I think it great that a game for once puts a lot of focus on the story, and it wasn't like the gameplay suffered or anything. f*ck IGN and everybody else who gave the game 7.0 or less.

Feel bad for 2K.

Mafia II wasn't bashed for the lack of freedom. It was bashed for providing almost nothing after 7 years, butchered story and general overhyping made by developers. In fact Mafia II was very mediocre game with not so good graphics, and not bad story told in terrible way. Mafia I also didn't have free roaming but it received couple of awards (I think), nice notes and warm welcome.

Underrated: Midnight Club series, System Shock, Urban Chaos, Driver series.

Underrated:
Stuntman series.
I have over 10 days logged on the first one and about 3 days logged onto ignition. I will however say that ignition does somewhat fail, but nonetheless if you want a very challenging game, get them.

Ah, I had the first one. It was a great game, but god was it an unforgiving bitch sometimes...

For underrated games (or at least games noone apparantly cares about), I'd go for the Destroy All Humans! franchise, or at least the first two anyway. They were great fun (nothing beats completely levelling an entire city, I can't think of any other games that let you do that), and bloody hilarious too - the funniest writing I've ever seen in a video game, even if the humour feels a little forced somethimes. I had the Wii one as well, but that was, well, a disappointment. It felt uninspired, and the graphics were shoddy, even for a Wii game (the characters' mouths didn't even move half the time!). I haven't played DAH! 3, for fear of it being half as bad as some of the reviews had made it out to be (it's got an average score of about 3/10 on Metacritic), and it's quite saddening that that was probably the nail in the coffin for the franchise.

Other games I can think of are Smuggler's Run 2 and The Italian Job (on the PS1, based off of the original film). I can remember those being pretty fun, but it's been years since I've played them, so it might just be the nostalgia talking.

I can't think of any games I'd consider to be "overrated". I guess I'm just too optimistic.

It was only published by R*. Only for PS in NA. PC and EU PS versions had different publisher. Good driving game.

I'd say The Warriors is underrated in a popularity kind of way. It came out in or around the time the Xbox was being launched and the Xbox kind of stole potential limelight. It's rated highly by crtitics and it may be popular on these forums but it still remains a sort of cult game, like the film.

Driv3r and Parrallel Lines were kind of underrated. The driving in those games was closer to what IV went to before Rockstar touched off that style of driving. The graphics were nice and the wanted system was far superior to GTA's in myy opinion. Rockstar also used some of the wanted system from PL but not the "being recognised on foot and being recognised by car" feature. Also playing in 1978 and then 2006 was reall ambitious and they did it quite well. I still wish Rockstar will just use the wanted system or something similar to Drivers.

Mafia II, really?

The game that was advertised for a lot, that a lot of people played even though it wasn't such a great game? That's not what I call underrated.

Then Mafia I, which was genius deserves to be called underrated more than the second one.

Underrated: The Condemned Series

Just about everyone I've met has never even heard of these games or they have heard of them but never played them just because someone else told them that they didn't like them so they just never gave them a shot or even checked them out. In my Opinion they were fun as hell especially Condemned 2's fight club mode. The campaign for both games is pretty fun also.

Also for being Underrated is the F.E.A.R. series.

Every time a new FEAR comes out it keeps getting bashed for not being scarier than the previous one. I don't really think that that that matters at all. It was made to be a first person game above anything else. In my opinion the FEAR games have a pretty original and intense story line along with some great level designs which make it probably one of my favorite single player series.

Not the only game to suffer from the whole MP phenomenon. confused.gif I actually enjoyed the SP campaign in MW3, and the only gripe for me was how short it was.

There was already a topic about this here.

From the other topic:

I'd have to say Time Splitters 2. Was an awesome game and I've easily played a couple thousand hours on it. far more than any of the other games I've played way too much of. (Crash Team Racing and Gran Turismo 3)

Even with all of it's epicness, 99% of my friends had ever ever heard of it. I only know 1 or 2 people that have played it.

I'm personally suprised that most people here do not know what Carmageddon is.

It's not really underrated though, so I guess it's just.. too old?
