I've played two Rockstar Games; GTA: San Andreas and RDR. SA made me fall in love with Rockstar, and was the pinnacle of the GTA series from what I've seen of the other games. RDR is an absolute masterpiece, a solid candidate for Best Sandbox Ever. (Fallout and Assassin's Creed being the competitors.)

Now, I don't want GTA5 to be a modern-themed version of a horse-themed version of a modern-themed game. But it can still take some things from RDR to improve gameplay.

SEPARATE WEAPONS AND AMMO!
This annoyed me much in GTA: SA. I like how in RDR you actually buy guns and ammo separately. Guns should be pretty expensive and ammo pretty affordable.

ASSASSIN'S CREED STYLE INVENTORY!
One thing that GTA does NOT need to take from RDR is the fact that both games have you carry every weapon you collect. Assassin's Creed style would be good; you can only have one of each class at a time, and store the classes at your safehouse.

BUYING WEAPONS SEVERAL TIMES, BUYING OUTFITS SEVERAL TIMES
Furthermore, weapons and clothes (saved in your safehouse/car trunk) only stay there.... no buying a house and keeping clothes in it, driving to another house and buying it, and magically having your clothes in it. This is less because of gameplay and realism and more because it would give us something to spend money on. I can see where some might think this would be really annoying, though. I want to see this in RDR2, and this should be appropriate for GTA5 also.

CAR DEEDS
Okay, so when I play GTA it turns me into a sociopath, and when I play RDR it turns me into a savior. So, I never hijacked horses in RDR and spent the money on horse deeds. But, car insurance would still be nice for GTA5.... you could buy/hijack any car and then insure it, which makes it so that you can retrieve your car in pristine condition if it is destroyed or lost! So, if you have a special car you're fond of, you can retrieve it easily. This car would be available at an auto dealership or something when you go to retrieve it.

PLEASE CHANGE THE HEALTH BAR
I don't like regenerating health. I'm not sure if GTA4 had it or not. Anyways, I would like to see a health bar in GTA5, and the ability to pop Medicine (like RDR) to increase it. I never quite understood eating food to gain health back, so I would like to see it removed. Eating Food would only be necessary to stave off starvation (if SA's working out is brought back) or just for fun.

FURNITURE
A bit of customization would be nice.

LOTS OF BUSINESSES
We should actually take part in running businesses! Businesses doesn't mean buying a property, it means actually running the property.

LOTS OF JOBS
And there should be lots of options to make money in the game.

I agree with all of your suggestions, especially the regenerating health one. Ever since the Call of Duty games became popular, every other shooting game has had it; it completely eliminates all strategy. GTA IV has a health bar, so I'm hopeful.

And for goodness' sake, listen to Jeeebuuus.

Ok everything after the inventory thing sounds retarded except the health thing. Im pretty sure I dont wanna get car insurance because in all honesty no insurance agency is gonna give a free car every time it explodes. And the clothing thing would be annoying as hell considering I hardly care about appearance already then having to remember where I stored every single out fit. And what's the friggin point of furniture, if you want that play extreme make over home edition. No one spends enough time in their safe house to care.

Eh, I was actually seriously looking into buying it for a while, and finally decided it just didn't look that good. By that point GTA4 was a good game, and the graphics were no longer impressive enough to sell it to me. I decided I just didn't care for it.

I WILL buy GTA5, maybe preorder it if the price isn't ridiculous.

DRUGS
If they could implement addiction like in Fallout, this would be a great way to get the player to waste lots of money.

I want to see the game made so that, while you can become rich, you probably won't.... it's all too easy to buy everything in a game and have a fortune in the end, with nothing valuable to spend it on.

I was thinking about making a topic simular to this one.

The two games could combine perfectly in a sense.

When out in the country side, you hunt animals, ride horses and do all the things country people generally do.

It would cool as hunting bears in the snow capped mountains on a modern day snow mobile, or shooting dears in the spotlight from the back of your F100. The potential is endless.

If your not willing to play GTA V's predecessor then why would you think you would enjoy it's sequel? If your looking for graphics for enjoyment you should probably look elsewhere.

I'd like to see 2 things from RDR

1. be able to tie someone up/kidnap and lay them on train tracks

2. be able to drag someone from the back of a car via rope/chains devil.gif devil.gif

Great topic, and i agree with just about all of the suggestions in the OP. RDR was/is a masterpiece visually, and i have been playing it again now to get psyched up for GTA V's countryside.

Buying insurance on cars makes a lot of sense especially if you have spent a bunch of dough and a bunch of time customizing a car. Ha, the game could even incentivize the player to drive more carefully by having insurance cost be partly proportional to some of the damage statistics the player has accumulated.

Man I don't wanna hate but op is whack on ideas. Insurance? Clothes specific to safehouses? Most of what you described would be bashed so hard if they were implemented. I get the weapons idea to an extent but you gotta remember most gamers today don't have attention spans to track in game clothes or insurance rates, by that point lets open Roth IRA's and 401 K's. People bitch about missions that make you change clothes manually let alone figuring the best place to store them. The furniture idea is cool though. Take some real features from RDR like the bullet wounds or emersion from stranger missions. I suggest renting IV some stuff in there is great and may show you why R* would never use most of what you described.

Not a new idea for a GTA V thread, Just saying FYI style.
The idea is what mechanics would be good from RDR to GTA, but this expands on that idea of the old thread. I'd also recommend you play ALL the 3D GTAS at the very least, the 2D if you got the time, and ninDS version CTWs. I've yet to complete the main games or even see CTWs in person! (outside of the box)! haha

GTA IV doesn't look that good? Are you kidding me? GTA IV is amazing. And the graphics are really good in it, and even if they weren't that is the dumbest reason ever not to buy a game.

Eating food never made a point? It was to refill health. Like the painkiller you suggested. Its not that complicated.

The hell is wrong with you?

You could pick up a copy for like $10 now (with shipping) off of Amazon. Even homeless guys can afford it.

The Insurance wouldn't be something you pay repeatedly and it would not change.... it would be a constant cost paid up-front one time for each vehicle. For those of you who say "UNREALISTIC!", I say carrying 22 weapons on your back is unrealistic.

As for graphics and stranger missions, I EXPECT Rockstar to use them or improve upon them.

I'm sorry but I can't take suggestions for GTA V seriously, when they come from someone who hasn't even played IV. The only other GTA game there is on this generation's consoles.

To say you're not going to play a game, a R* game nonetheless, because the graphics are four years old is just an embarrassing statement to make. The graphics on last gen's GTA's weren't all that compared to other open world games. Driv3r (shudder) & Scarface had better 'graphics' & larger maps than III & VC but R*'s games pissed all over them in every other aspect.

I did read your post though, as it's rude to post without at least reading the first.
