I downloaded the GTA pack off Steam a few weeks ago, and they all work fine apart from GTA III which always crashes immediately on startup. I've deleted it and re-downloaded twice it but this hasn't helped.

I did do a very quick search but found nothing so sorry if this has come up before.

I'm running Win7 for what it's worth.

What Girish asked, and have you downloaded any Modifications into the game, or added any files into GTA III's directory?

QUOTE (Girish @ Sunday, Nov 13 2011, 06:05)
Have you tried running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode?

How do you do this exactly? I've seen this idea on other sites but there doesn't seem to be a compatibility tab under properties?

I have no mods or anything like that, I haven't touched the files at all.

Right click and select the Properties Tab there should be a tab saying "Compatibility" select it and over there should be a heading with "Compatibility Mode" and Tick the "Run this Program In Compatibility Mode For" and from there select the Windows 98 option and thats done

Hmm, fixed it now. Went into the folder and ran the .exe directly, independently of steam and it works fine.
