Seriously, the free-roam gameplay of L.A. Noir is terribly uninteresting. It needs to be brought up to GTA IV/RDR spec. Let the modding begin!

The guys at Xentax were working on it. Perhaps we should work on documenting memory addresses, file formats and stuff like that, too.

Hey guys thanks for the response. I have not found a proper forum for LA Noire modding so I figured I would just start posting. And thanks for directing me to XeNTaX. That is an awesome site. I really believe this game has INCREDIBLE potential for something extraordinary if we just get it modded. I had never enjoyed an open world as much as LA Noire yet it seems so limited. I was driving around yesterday and a million ideas came to mind that would make this game phenomenal. So like I said at XeNTaX if there is anything I can do to help then I will. Just want to get interest going and do whatever it takes to mod this game. Thanks again!!

There is the source of a .big extractor that was released for the console versions on xentax (I've got it on my HDD too if someone wants it), it'll just need to be adapted. The biggest thing is they are not encrypted so it should be easy.

Wouldnt it be easier to mod this engine to drive more like GTAIV. That seems like a much better option or am I crazy?

It can be done, but it'll be difficult as most of the game's stat/data files aren't exposed like in IV.

None ATM, although I did manage to extract some of the audio from it using Dragon Unpacker. Might use some of Cole's lines for making a soundboard or something... tounge.gif

Possible to port L.A Noire to GTA IV? i hate driving physics in L.A Noire.

Depends of the game structure.

Also, the map is bigger then SA\IV.

So any way to extract those archives yet ??

Yeah but ripping on 3DR may not yield desirable results. It does in some games, i.e. the Deathly Hallows game, but afaik it can f*ck up in some cases.

EDIT: It appears as though that the warez group Skidrow uploaded their release of the game. Not that I'm condoning piracy, but some of the allegedly encrypted files (cases.big.pc, out.wad, etc.) have been decoded and are included in the cracked package. Perhaps that could help in snuffing things off the game.

Yeah, but like what I've said earlier, your mileage may vary.

Well not whole map may not fit on IV but most will.
