I have a different taste in cars than most people, possibly because of where I was born and live. You see, most people love sports cars and would love to just stare at them. Me, however, I like old, run down and simple cars like the Peykan or the Pride. Here are some pictures of my taste in cars: A Peykan in Iran. Kia Pride Kia Avella It's not that I dislike sports cars, it's more that I would like to own one of these cars more than a sports car. I just like the simplicity and the weird feel these cars give me, it's just nice. Another thing is that in GTA I like the rusty cars more than their proper versions. Does anyone else share my taste in cars? This post has been edited by Shayan Shaffey on Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 17:27

| QUOTE (Zisis1992 @ Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 23:03) | I think that Iran was-is making some Citroen models for the local market (i think that the company is called Saipa) |
Yeah, Saipa assembles the 2CV in Iran, they still do. And now they're also assembling Kia and Renault cars as well. The Ford Fiesta (Pride) model for the domestic market is what they're famous for, but the 2CV sales are also going up. This is the 2008 Saipa Pride (AKA Saba) Iran Khodro (makers of the Paykan), who are also the biggest company here, are planning to release this car by late 2011: This post has been edited by Shayan Shaffey on Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 20:02

| QUOTE (Zisis1992 @ Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 23:35) | The 2CV is still being assebled there? Nice! But... Where do they find spare parts? (engines, chassis etc. ) I think that Saipa is making a facelifted Xantia too... | Well, they produce their own parts and stuff for 2CV, it's not being assembled, it's actually being built here. Xantia is one of the most common cars here, I like it a lot, like most Citroens, it has a lot of style and a timeless design.

| QUOTE (Shayan Shaffey @ Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 20:35) | | QUOTE (Zisis1992 @ Monday, Nov 7 2011, 00:00) | You know what? Maybe we are the only ones in the whole forum lol! Here's the home page of the site http://www.citroenet.org.uk/ in the top-right, you can search for everything you want! 2cv restyled??? I want to see that! |
That's a cool site. The restyled 2CV is supposed to have a more thicker body, bigger engine and more plastic instead of metal. Airbags, ABS and all that typical modernization stuff. The SAIPA business headquarters is very close to where I live, so I'm surrounded by new and old Citroens. Jiane is like a national icon here, it was even on the Iranian money in the 80's (for a short while). Everyone loves Jiane and you can't have a car conversation here without the Jiane popping up somewhere. |
That's good! (about the 2cv). You gave me one extra reason to try more to find Iranian money! Here the ''national'' Citroen was the Pony, (the same time that you were made the Jiane 2cv and Mehari ) http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/greece/pony-1.htmlI overtook one with the Xsara

| QUOTE (Shayan Shaffey @ Sunday, Nov 6 2011, 21:15) | Wow. pony looks really nice! I would pay a lot of money just to sit in one of them, it looks like a really strong car! Does Greece have a lot of citroen fans too? |
Υeap! They are interested mostly in the new ones... But we have classic Citroen lovers too! Citroenet says about the Pony:
Namco, the Greek Citroën concessionaire assembled a vehicle called Pony in a factory constructed specifically for the purpose in Thessalonika. This vehicle is probably closer to the FAF (although it pre-dates that design) than it is to the Baby Brousse and was available as both an open top version and a roofed one. The Pony used the mechanical components of the Dyane 6 and was better built and equipped than the other similar vehicles and a wider range was marketed. They were exported to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Tunisia, Egypt and Germany. Some 17,000 examples were built. Here you can see the countries that this project wass taking place: http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/baby-brousse/index.html...and here a really rare Pony, for the U.S. market http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/greece/pony-3.html EDIT: Iran and Greece produced the most models!
