Yes I do think it will be that big. I kind of used the rumor that the map will be 2.5X bigger than RDR's as the reasoning. And i do believe that LS alone could be about the same land area as all of San Andreas. The SA map actually isn't as big as it seems in game. You can tell be comparing how small the cities actually are when flying over them or using the LV airport runway and comparing it to the rest of the city. The runway actually wasn't that long but it looks like 2 and a half of them would cover the city from top to bottom. A feel that R* might be going for a more realistic scale with this one so LS will be a lot larger than the cities from SA.

I think the whole map might be open from the start. I remember a quote from R* saying something about "a new direction for GTA" and something about "a new age for open world freedom." I cant remember exactly but i think it something like that was said. And i also think that it wouldn't make sense for them to make islands when in reality there arent any. It worked in LC because the boroughs of NYC are separated by water but L.A isnt on an island separating it from the mainland. Even though GTA has never been to realistic with their maps (each one is just a collection of islands floating in an endless ocean) I think that if they separated L.S from the rest of the map with water it would seem ridiculous and they probably wouldn't do it.

This is a very good map I don't think water needs to be added around the map its not realistic since its suppose to replicate Southern Cali and its counties.You just need add possibly San Diego as the other major city.

The last time I checked, LA was not surrounded on all four side by water. The only GTA that could arguably justify the use of islands is IV, since IRL, four of New York's five boroughs are located on islands. Subtract Staten Island, add Eastern NJ, and you've got IV.

I think that map is a very good start. Of course I have no proof but I expect the following will also be included:

- Santa Barbara/Malibu
- San Diego (possibly including Tijuana)
- Palm Springs (including the cable car up to the mountains)
- some kind of abandoned Gold Rush style town (a la RDR)

I also suspect the sea will come round and form the northern boundary. Looking good though.

I hope so. I'm in the UK but issues of immigration seem pretty big at the moment, much like racial clashes were in the early 90s when GTA:SA was set. Also, the Mexican drug wars are crazy at the moment, I would have thought R* would hope to include that element as there is a lot to work with. As has been said, the protaganist looks a bit Mexican and possibly sounds it to so it would make sense to incorporate that into GTA V.

^^^ Buildings locations are never 100% correct in GTA games. R* is greatly inspired by the real life locations but they put things at different places.
Remember that Los Santos is a modified/scaled down version of Los Angeles, just like Liberty City was a scaled down version of New York.

I think it's worth noting that this map is based on confirmed or almost confirmed data.
I only put things that are seen in the trailer, without extrapolating. Except for the locations of certain places such as Rodeo Drive, the Wind Farm, the Harbour and the Golf Club which are roughly based on their real-life counterparts.

I'll try to update it with new findings as they come.
In the meantime, I'm gonna take a look at the first post and maybe do a post regrouping all our maps
