If the second trailer won´t show us the other cities, then i will accept the idea of the only city being Los Santos, but untill then, we´ll just have to wait and see.

Perhaps there is a way Las Venturas and San Fierro can be in the game:

1. Las Venturas: Remember, this is a "re-imagined Southern California". Las Vegas is more closer to Los Angeles than San Francisco is. Remember how California and Nevada were merged as 1 state in GTA: San Andreas. It's likely that California and Nevada will be one megastate called "San Andreas". Therefore, the fictional region of San Andreas. If California and Nevada were one state in real-life, I think Las Vegas would fall around the southern portion, so we could see it. This throws out the "Las Vegas isn't in California" theory.

2. San Fierro: Here's a way San Fierro can perfectly make it without the map being too awkward. The map doesn't have to be HUGE just to get SF in. I think they can make San Fierro a moderately long distance away, but, with the help of optical illusions such as a long highway and draw distance, they can perfectly make San Fierro feel as if it were much farther away than it really is.

However, I'd actually prefer if they just stick with a SoCal based region with San Diego and Tijuana being the 2 major cities other than Los Santos. Hope this re-assures the SF/LV fans.

I could do without Vegas but I'd really like to see San Fierro, bums, fiends, burn outs and modern day counterculture - This right here is a list of all the most active elements necessary to make a real modern day San Francisco. The homeless in SF represent much more than just a presence, go to San Francisco and their presence out numbers that of the dying middle class. If Dan Houser really wants to take this storyline to the next level this is something that should be covered, it allows for a lot of social commentary. Imagine going to a Haight St. replica to take a mission from the homeless traveling wayward rolling stone types that inhabit the park.

LV and SF will each feature in their own games. That way, Rockstar can give each of them the same fantastic HD treatment they gave to LC and LS.

Also the reference to the disk space a few posts above ^ , disk space isn't the limitation to map size (well, not yet anyway). The limitation is the huge number of manhours it takes to create such a vast area in high detail.

If they tried to put three cities in the one game, something would have to give. The cities would either have to be compromised in size, compromised in detail or the entire game would take 10 years to develop, not 4. Better to have one stonkingly good city instead of three crap ones.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a second city... It will be Los Santos / not like in L.A.Noire our Midnight CLub but completly with all beaches and more detailed and like they said with countryside for the Hollywood Hills and everything behind that... Maybe also some small villages ..

Not that simple. If you look at a map of LA, there isn't just some massive city (2nd largest in the nation) surrounded by Podunk country towns.

There is a gradient from heavily dense urban==>urban==>suburban==>then rural.
Before that gradient reaches rural, there are other decent sized cities in every direction. LA is just that dense.

Can someone explain to me why they would specify Southern California and LS with "surrounding countryside, hills and beaches" if it's going to include SF and LV? Honestly, why, in your minds, would they do that?

the biggest problem of a single city, is that there isn't a sense of reward if you unlock the rest of the map. One of the goals in every GTA is to unlock other cities or islands, and if you already start in Los santos, moving to the countryside is a step back.


To avoid this problem, there are only two things to do: create new, bigger cities, or doing something totaly different, with our character starting his journey in the countryside/desert,and we'll slowly move from the poorest cabin in the wood to the big mansion. it will be something never really done before, and it will the first GTA to make you physially arrive in the new city (while in other games the arrive was only a cut-scenes)
