Right. Rockstar deliberately said re-imagined Southern California to inform us what the real-world reference is. The re-imagined Southern California will re-use the name San Andreas in GTA V, but it's not the same San Andreas that included Northern California and Nevada, just as Liberty City is not the same in III and IV.

(San Fierro and Las Venturas may still exist fictionally in other parts of the state of San Andreas not depicted in GTA V. There's GTA VI and VII.)

Everyone seems to think that the mountain range shown in the trailer is Mount Chilliad. To me it looks like the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs and the trailer also features wind turbines similar to that found on your way to Palm Springs.

But you see my point about the sun's position as to where certain locations are?

I don't have a clue about that sort of thing, hence why i was asking the question, just chucked it out there.

I am going to tell you some info that you may or may take with a pinch of salt
First off this info was brought to your attention for 3 reasons

1. Speculatory
2. Testers are getting anxious
3. Freedom of speech

Grand theft auto v - will feature multiple characters from the old series combined with new protagonists thats a given

Unfortunetly rockstar couldn't agree on a contract with a famous past voice
But then again they did bring back a few others

Grand theft auto v city - will indeed feature Los santos and surrounding areas
Now thanks to xbox we had to solve the issue with disks qouted by a member of the north team

Digital Download will allow you to expand on the other areas not included as of yet but you can sure bet your bottom filler that the city is big pushing discs / consoles to there max think red dead style except it's more on a grand titanic scale -

We will bring together the poetry that has made gta and include a vast storyline that will keep you guessing and playing for months with the ever expanding open world changes that rockstar could bring even to offline play with an update / downloadable content think ala LA Noir

The ability to create your own world with certain own mission creatives
Imagine you made the story yourself the ability to get a team together to create a bank hiest etc with cut scenes bring provided with the camera angels to suit rockstar have gave people the open world freedom like neverbefore

Testers have reported that while there's a great epic story to follow you can litrally make this game your own they can't express how anxious they are to have rockstar unleash this game

Think sims game play - not true this is more like think of every gangster flick being recreated through your own sense of what will happen next while you can create your own fun where you can ride the coast take it easy but you somehow don't want to be a nice guy this game is epic with the thought of rockstar and the digital downloads / story lines to follow suit you can expect a new sand box style where it's always changing growing this isn't gta iv this is more like the grand theft auto to change all grand theft autos -

I've just made an interesting analysis using the angle of the buildings downtown.

First shot I want to mention:

Look at the drawn lines near the downtown area. See the hill on the left?

Next image (I call it protagonist image), is taken closer by, but also a little bit more to the left (not much). From this we can conclude that the next image is probably shot in one of the appartment buildings in one of the previous buildings.

Also, take a look at the hills in the protagonist shot. Left and right there are hills, so that is the same as in the first shot. From this we can conclude there are hills on the southeast and northeast. There also seems to be a hill behind the building under construction. This hill would be located east of LA.

See the marks left and right? Look at the next picture with the marks left and right.
That's right! The buildings are reversed. Since this defenitely looks like evening, this must be facing west. That means the previous pictures are looking towards the east.
It's also clear that there are hills towards the northwest.

Last picture is the accident. This is hard to find the angle, but I believe it is taken north of the downtown area, just as the golf shot would also be (also hard to find, but that's a lot closer to downtown).
There seems to be no hills south of downtown. Also, because of the cloudy weather the smog seems to have cleared.

I think in the end we can conclude that it's very plausible that there is a band of hills towards the north and scattered hills towards the east and southeast.
Just as is with actual LA.
