| QUOTE | | The less you lose on your journey to victory, the less you win when you finally arrive there. |
That quote sums up my view on cheating. What's the point of playing a game if you're going to break the rules and give yourself a free victory? Where's there feeling of accomplishment? It took me almost 20 years to beat Rad Racer. I wasn't playing every day of course, but every few years I'd come back to it and try to win only to fail each time. To beat the game you have to finish 8 consecutive races in the time limit. If you don't finish a race in time then the game ends and you have to start over from the beginning of the circuit. However, there is a code that will let you re-try the last track even if you lose. But I never used that cheat, because what would be the point of victory if I had? It would be meaningless since winning would be inevitable. Anyone could just keep re-entering the code to keep trying track 5 until they got lucky and beat it. Then they could do the same to track 6, and maybe after 50 tries they'll beat it too, then just repeat until the circuit's finished. But that's not winning the game. You're just twisting the rules and giving yourself infinite "lives"; of course you'll beat it in that case, but did you earn your win? No. The rules outlined by the game's makers are you have to beat all 8 races in one attempt. And after 20 years finally last summer I did it. It was one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment I'd ever experienced. Definitely my most satisfying victory in terms of gaming, and probably in life in general. It's really an indescribable feeling to succeed in something you previously thought was impossible. Now, is this what everyone plays games for? No. But I can tell you if you are struggling with GTA4 now you will feel a greater reward when you beat the game using your own skills than if you rely on a cheat to give yourself unintended advantages. Practice is the only way you'll get better as a gamer. Cheats are a crutch; if you start relying on them now you'll never develop the skills you need to beat a more difficult game later in life that you really want to, and there may not be a cheat to bail you out then. GTA is interesting because of the versatility of its missions. It's not black and white like Rad Racer is, where you either finish or fail. Many missions in a GTA can be tipped in your favor by a little planning ahead since there are multiple ways to solve them. Off the top of my head one mission tells you to kill a guy in an apartment complex. Sure you can go in guns blazing, get shot up by his posse, and possibly lose him as he escapes. Or if you scout the terrain you'll see there's a vantage point overlooking his balcony that you can climb up to and take him out effortlessly with a sniper rifle. If you're having trouble with a specific mission try to think outside the box for a more creative solution. There are also legal ways to help you, like befriending Dwayne. Once he likes you enough you can call him and he'll send some guys over to help fight with you. Another is Kiki. Date her enough and she'll help keep the police away from you.

No cheats, I just completed the main story (64% a few pigeons, jumps, friends, assassinations in there) and 55 hours playing time. Now the fun starts, completing the pigeons, jumps, friends, etc.
There are no cheats that I found worth even considering to complete the story or even now.
San Andreas had several really cool cheats like the super jump, the super punch, the all cars have nos codes which I really liked, I'd use those maybe once all achievements were complete unless I was able to undo the cheat like San Andreas also.

| QUOTE (sportcar123 @ Tuesday, Feb 14 2012, 18:06) | | i don't see anything wrong with cheats why don't u be leave its worth it guys | Because it can block some achievements and there are not any really good cheats in gta iv. Just the standard weapons, health whatever which is all easy to obtain without cheats. There just aren't the cool cheats like San Andreas had, like super punch, super jump, all cars have NOS. Those are cool cheats worth using but just got power up, money up, whatever is not even a cheat really. I mean it's a cheat, but it's not a good "code".
