I heard that there are some rifa tags still left in San Fierro from the beta version of the game. Can anyone confirm this? If so where are their locations? Thanks
There are leftover files for the Rifa tag but it was not used in the game itself for some reason. IIRC, the text includes "San Fiero Rifa" (with Fiero not double R) in turquoise color.

I know modding isn't allowed during this part of the forum, but while browsing a few files like gta3.img and player.img I foudn some stuff in the GTA SA Beta.
1.) CJ's Beta head I found this and it is named "head.txd" and I tried it out ingame and CJ had a huge line going down the middle of his head, not to mention he looked about 37. 2.) Big Bear Fat Appearance I found this during DYOM, Big Bear looked real obese so I'm going to guess in the SA Beta, he was supposed to be fat at the begining or during the end of the game. 3.) Beta Audio While browsing SPC_PA (CJ's audio) I found some audio about GSF like "ORANGE GROVE FAMILIES" and "ORANGE F*CKING GROVE F*CKING STREET" Which I think was CJ's beta car jacking/shooting audio. 4.) Beta Save point
I found this out months ago. 5.) (Not sure if anything to do with beta) Ryder has 3 files Ryder, Ryder2, Ryder3, one of his appearances is him without his hat but his other appearances look exactly the same!
@Weasel: That was one fkin' huge typo, its "Things to Do in San Andreas" not: "Tjomgs Tp Dp Om Sam Amdreas" XD @Nathan: That is not a "Beta" save point, there is over 1000 different interior ids (worlds). That; what you or many other people have found, is a safehouse interior. @GTAfanatic: Nope, the BETA was never released, i believed that it was released for PS2, but after ages of gaining money and spending it on all versions of SA on PS2. Sadly, none of them was BETA

aww..on the beta version on www.gta.wikia.com/beta_releases, you could've made CJ buy drugs to get high and make CJ buy beer and buy donuts from the donut shops...they should've had those 3 things and everything else that was in the final version...

Here is that beta CJ I was on about. His texture still lies in the player.img and from the first picture you can tell it was a early drop. Early CJ? Notice the huge line down his face?
Anyway this is how he was supposed to look like, I edited his texture to make it stable and normal..... well kinda. After a little bit of editing.
I solved that loooong ago, that head.txd is BETA Big Bears head texture, which can be seen in this pic: I also made a model of it long ago, but i lost it I took a pic of it tho (beta big bear i made) this is it: @Th3MaN1: You can find them by the files in the PS2 disc of SA, either that or VCS one @lil weasel: Yeah, i see you fixed it, although the "Andreas" is still "Amdreas"

Hey Nathan,I heard that in the Beta the Uzi Carbine and M60 were avaiable. Can you try and find these 2?
I think the M60 is on the PS2 version only. I can try to find the beta Uzi, but I think that is on PS2 as well. Need a weapon spawner so I can see everything. Well time to Google. I'll post pics of beta weapons.
EDIT:Nope but I found some very interesting things.
The GREEN GUN NEXT TO THE CAMERA HUD IS A MOD!!! Just so we have no confusion.
Why is there a "weapon" (pickup idk) called GTAIII? If anyone has a weapon spawner for GTA Vice City try this out and see if you have a GTAIII Icon/pickup. I think the 2 Player Icons were just carried over frm PS2.

Why is the CJ having the ugly line? Was it scheduled in pre-release/beta?

I've heard many times that the area of the State of San Andreas was originally "three times larger" than the final release area, and the game was originally going to be on two discs because of its gargantuan size. But was it really that big?
This is a beta picture of San Fierro, which in the amount of streets actually looks smaller.
And this is an early beta map of the State of San Andreas, the one that you can find in the Lil' Probe Inn and Toreno's ranch. It has major changes compared to the final release version. Notice how Bayside doesn't exist, Easter Bay Airport is different, Red and Flint County were connected, and finally some towns in Red County were much smaller. The least-changed city seems to be Los Santos.
But even seeing these pictures, I'm not convinced it was really three times it's final size. Is there any more proof that it was?
