I saw them live at an outdoor gig, the same summer that song became a minor hit for them, it wasn't all that popular, but for a small band in Texas, they got some big National Exposure, I believe MTV playing actual music helped them along. They kinda fell off the map though. The 90s seems rather retro now, and I'm sure it'll even sound a bit more like that as time and distance separate the decade Tragically Hip were probably on the bill when I went to the show, I also was getting into the band Drivin' n Cryin' Pretty awesome indie band I guess you could say

I'm half in, half out of the 1990s, I do believe still that 1995 was a turning point in music, it's rather defined as having MTV and VH1 move away from good music coverage, and the sub-genre and predominant media fixations take hold, The Record companies making a fuss over Napster, and just the move away from free thinking musical choices.
I see my last post sorta covers that lament. Since I missed the Faith No More mention after that, HELL YEAH they were HUGE! Nirvana and Pearl Jam became the poster children of the 90s Grunge, but that's not the sole movement, you had Lilith Fair and Jane's Addiction's front man Perry Ferrell putting on Lollapalozza, hope I spelled that right. The 1990s were awesome for Jack Koshick's METALFEST, which I think started in 89 thereabouts, and then moved from Milwaukee to other towns in North America, several metal concerts on par started to take root, not been able to enjoy those however, but those were the highlights
