I was pretty surprised to find out that Netflix is carrying all four seasons of Mad Men, and I'm about halfway through season two at the moment. It's a really damn good show, in fact I'm wondering why I haven't seen it up until just recently. Luckily it's one of the few shows that I've caught that's still in production, so at least I can look forward to the next season once I'm finished catching up.

Also, Christina Hendricks' boobs.

I enjoyed the first twenty minutes. Seeing Don more obsessed and juvenile than ever is kind of fun. Betty's story was weak but it showed how sh*tty New York really is, a good contrast to Madison Ave. and The Village. Sally is still cool. When I heard about the "time leap" I was kind of hoping they'd shave him. But yeah, I mean, it felt like a normal episode. In a double episode that was billed by many as a "feature film" it was particularly lackluster. A lot of scenes were given far more length than they needed and Don's unexplained behavior was, I guess, laying pipe for the rest of the season?

I'm supposing something more happened with that kid in Hawaii, or it struck a deeper chord with Don than they explicitly showed us. And all that business with the heart attack - it felt like it was being willfully vague, and not in a fun way. Leaves you asking "did Don have a heart attack and all this sh*t is in his head now"? Or maybe that's just the lingering after effects of LOST on my psyche.

And two hours of Mad Men without Joan (she had like, one line)? Just wrong.

Betty visiting the Village was pretty rad. I liked that aspect of her story. I wish they explicitly showed her helping them cook instead of standing around like a priss the whole time; they've got to be careful she doesn't become a any more of a caricature or they might as well cut her right out.

I mostly enjoyed the newest episode. Seeing Don and Megan in Hawaii was a welcome change from the offices and Madison Ave. Betty is still wearing a fat suit, right? Her diet didn't seem to work out so well. She's such a complex character at times but comes off as such a mega bitch that it's difficult to root for her. Seeing her slumming it trying to help Sally's friend was a nice change.

I was really glad to see Don return to his old ways at the end of the episode, even if his last words were about how he wants to stop being like that. My favorite Don Draper is the whoring around kind.
