I personally don't like if a member tries to act 'gangsta' by writing things like ''plz'' instead of ''please'' or ''u'' instead of ''you''.

I don't see how that's gangsta.

Yeah i agree that's NOT Gangsta ! that's justin beiber sh*t. My sig is gangsta

Edit: I post how I post. If you don't like it don't read it. I'm poor at grammer and spelling. I have no problem admiting that. I'll try my best but that's all i can do. I heard about a spell check on here where's that located smile.gif

Do you think a member is more respected and memorable if he uses proper grammar? I personally don't like if a member tries to act 'gangsta' by writing things like ''plz'' instead of ''please'' or ''u'' instead of ''you''.

How is that gangsta? turn.gif

As long as the point gets across I have no qualm with it. If I have a hard time reading it because of horrible structure, forced misspellings, what have you, then I usually just ignore the post. I don't form any type of opinion of the actual poster.

Also, I post a lot from my phone and we all know how dodgy that can be.

QUOTE (Drift-Kingz @ Tuesday, Jul 5 2011, 15:09)
If people can understand what you're addressing, then that's all that matters.

Pretty much this. The only reason I would use proper grammar beyond this on a forum is because of habit.

I agree, if I was to not use proper grammar then I would be taking longer to type.

I guess it all depends on weather they are doing it to look cool, if they were brought up like that or they have always spelt like that

@Cole Phelps; I believe it may be an add-on for Firefox. I have it on my PC at home, and has helped on so many occasions when I've been stoned on this forum.

I'm using Google Chrome, and I was replying to an earlier PM from Cole, he's taking gentle jokes about his posts to heart, but it's all friendly from my end, I pointed out, you get a red underline for errors you miss as you type, however, there, THEIR, THEY'RE always get messed up, as well as other usage in grammer....grammar

There's really no excuse for not using correct grammar. I accept that some people, particularly the younger among us, may not fully have a grasp of grammar so I don't let it bother me. It's worth getting to grips with the basics such as when to use paragraphs, full stops and commas. Correct use of paragraphs can make a huge difference to the impact and clarity of your post. Apostrophes are also important.

Wikipedia is a good place to find out how to use these things.

Well, some don't want to spend the time on it, they rather express the thought, but it's the Internet, all based on words and graphics, so you have to make some effort

My English is not that good because I never went to any English course, except from the English school classes. I learned everything from movies, games and internet.
Sometimes I don't understand what Slamman is saying, for example, but I always try to find what some words and expressions means.

About typing like you're missing some keys on your keyboard - lik dis brah -, I don't like it. It's worse for me to understand what these kind of people are saying that to understand Slamman's phrases. smile.gif

Yes, I agree. It can be amusing to HEAR someone making a fool of themselves by trying to talk 'street'. But, to put it in writing seems, ... pitiful as Uncle Jed used to say.

As long as we're picking on grammar here, spelled is the past tense of spell; spelt is a kind of grain. tounge.gif

Also, periods usually end sentences.

Spelling? It seems general use (although it may take years) will put popular 'incorrect' spelling in the dictionary(s).

I really can't believe that, Eagles, Coin-God, just ask for heaven's sake, what's so hard about asking me what I mean?!?!
I do speak English natively, and most people get the gist of my conversations, it's not that friggin hard! Seriously
