| QUOTE (lil weasel @ Tuesday, Jun 21 2011, 00:18) | Why? Doesn't the Original game play on those machines? Remember profits have been lost on the V1 game and to redo it would cost more for limited sales. | The answer to that would be yes and no-if we are talking about the X-Box version, then YES, III, VC, and SA will work on the 360(as long as it has a HD and NOT just the 256MB built in like the Arcade model has)...If we are talking about the PS3, then NO, as the PS3 DOES NOT have backwards compatibility with PS2 games-I have the Original(NOT slim) 80GB model of the PS3, and it does not play PS2 games...I also have the 60GB Pro model of the 360, and the X-Box version will play on it... So, in conclusion, 360=Yes PS3=NO. Just a friendly heads up...

I agree. Plus, some models of the PS3 can play PS2 games. I don't know about the 360, but the PS3 certainly can. | NO, the PS3 CANNOT Play Ps2 games-there is NO Backwards compatibility...The 40GB never had it to begin with and the Original 80GB(which I have) will not play PS2 games...For sure the newer(slim) models will not play it, as backwards compatibility was not brought back... The 360 part I already answered in my last post, if you read it, you will know that the 360 WILL play original x-box games-all except the Arcade model with just the 256MB of memory ones...Just a friendly heads up.

That site is obviously old and needs to be updated, as I have the Original 80GB PS3(NOT the slim model) and yet, PS2 games DO NOT play on it...Hence, I still have to use my PS2 to play these games...? Also, I have never even seen a 20GB OR a 60GB PS3(so, can someone point out what country those exist in-I am in the USA and back when I got mine, I checked Wal-Mart's #1362, 990, 919, the one in Panama City Beach, also Target stores, K-Mart stores, Gamestop, and the internet versions of walmart.com, target.com, kmart.com, gamestop.com, and amazon.com...to no abailabilty...The ONLY ones I found at that time were the 40GB and 80GB models and opted for the 80GB one, as the 40GB never had backwards compatibilty to begin with, but the 80GB was supposed to have it(but I have confirmed that it doesn't) And the manual that came with the PS3 says it can play PS1 and PS3 games ONLY...Just curious about a few things...

As much as i would like to see that happening, i don't see it happening anytime soon.
The Originals on PS2 still sell quite well, in fact the PS2 still sells 10-20 000 units per week or more.
By the way, the 20gb and 60gb models were the original PS3's sold, the 80GB versions had some software emulation to run SOME games, albeit quite poorly. The 20 and 60gb models were phased out very quickly because Sony was losing money on every PS3 sold, and the Backwards compatibility only made that loss larger. PS2's were and still are selling in good quantities, so in the end Sony was making more money by discontinuing the backwards compatibility and selling more PS2's instead.

You can play Multiplayer in SA too... The program is called SAMP... |
yeah but samp is on pc...not every one can play it on the pc | The PS2 also has multiplayer(in fact, it is the ONLY one that was designed by Rockstar Games)-it is a 2-player mode at certain areas in the game....So, yeah, the PS2 also has MP...Not sure about the X-box version though...Just a friendy heads up...
