God, I just love this game so f*cking much.

I cannot believe it's been nearly 7 years since its release. I came across one of the old trailers the other day and decided that I have to borrow any one of my buddy's old PS2s and a copy of San Andreas if any of them still keep it. Wish me luck.

All this just makes me wish I was 13 again, before the inception of the video games and the consoles that we now know as current-gen.

Moderators, lock this if you must, but I made this thread solely as a celebration of what arguably is the greatest video game ever. What defined my gaming life, and what gave me the fondest of gaming memories that I'll always embrace. All when I was a fresh teenager, some 6 to 7 years ago.

Here's to everyone else who may have had strong San Andreas nostalgias from time to time. Describe your memories, how they make you feel, or simply ramble on like how I would when asked about my favourite video games ever. Cheers.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more.
I still have a PS2, and me and my friend always play San Andreas, and never get bored of it. We're always finding new ways to kill people and screw up things. SA is probably one of if not the best GTA game, ever. I don't even want GTA IV, San Andreas can keep me entertained for hours.

San Andreas is now one of my favorite if not my most favorite video game. I remember when it first came out. I didn't have any gaming consoles so id have to go to my friends house up the street to play any video games. Id been going there to play vice city with him for a while and i really loved it. wed take turns driving around listening to v-rock and flying tanks with the flying cars cheat. But one day he was all excited cause he got San Andreas. At first i wasn't pleased cause we just messed around with cheats that at the time i found pointless. and all the shininess of vice city was gone. But after a while, after exploring Mount Chiliad and the dessert. I loved it. Now i have a 360, PC and psp and i have every gta (except advance) from gta III to gta bogt. But the vast maps and fun missions of San Andreas are still number one to me. (holy crap i ramble)

Jesus i cant believe its been 7 years since release! I remember the day this came out, rushing into my local WHSmith the minute the doors opened to grab one lol i even had one on reserve but i took no chances and headed straight for the shelf!

Only owned the PC version a couple of years, and all the modding makes the game virtually your own unique world.

My GTA history starts at GTA 1. It was so fun to mess around in but I was young and my parents wouldnt allow me to have these games. I would very occasionally get to play GTA 1, 2, and eventually 3. Something about it. Being a kid and having such an imagination and this kind of gaming being new. Made GTA the absolute best most fun thing in the world. I really can't explain it. Finally in Middle school, I bought San Andreas from a friend. My other friend and I would play it all the time, at sleepovers and everything. It was just such an explainable blast to play. I could never have that much fun anymore. its all about the mind of a child. But yeah. San Andreas is my favorite all time game hands down. I'm really glad to have SAMP to bring some life back to it.

I don't really have in mind what I want to say. At least I can't put it into words. It's just a strong feeling of nostalgia for Grove Street. I am just in love with the Grove. I always thought of it as the homiest place there is. I would love for it to be real. Despite it being a gang territory I would still feel so safe there. It's just the perfect design and I love everything about it. I am considering customizing my real life licence plate to "GROVE4L" Anyone have anything to say about the ol' cul-de-sac?

Agreed. I got San Andreas on day 1 and I was 15 years old. I still play it to this day. But it's true, now when I play it I can feel the nostalgia. The thoughts of excitement I had before the game was released, the first time I put it in, powered on my PS2 and got to play it for the first time, the first time I got frustrated with a mission, I can remember the "wow" when I obtained the jetpack, The hours upon hours of recruiting gang members and getting chased by cops and gang members and watching my gang members shoot back in pursuit, the hours of fun I had entering gang cheats and just starting gang wars everywhere, the sad feeling I had when I knew I completed "end of the line" and the story was over, and so much more. The game is a masterpiece. I'm 21 now and I still play it regularly to this day.

I still have my launch-day copy I got as a present from my dad. He surprised me with it after school because I talked incessantly about it the day before. I was so excited for its release. It was truly amazing. The first car I stole was a Bravura and I remember gasping at how realistically the cars handled and looked. I put what felt like hundreds of hours into it (it stayed in my PS2 almost continuously for over two years). I don't play it much any more but it was definitely a great experience while it lasted.

It took me a life-suckingly long time to get past "Farewell, My Love..." It was hard then, but after losing my 80%+ save because my memory card died a few years later, it was pretty easy to redo. Finally finishing that and getting to see the other parts of the game was the best feeling. My friend and I used to fly to Las Venturas to play the casino games with the jetpack cheat while having a 4-star wanted level because of this mission. I beat "Supply Lines" on the original release. It was complete luck. So much time went into that. I think my last save before the memory card busted was in 2007-2008 or so.

And oh, the fun to be had with Gameshark codes and hidden interiors (thanks edisoncarter and Mxyzptlk!)

Anybody else have to look up strategy for the first mission? Heh. I died at least four times the first time I played. Just was not expecting to be thrown into the action like that before even being able to save.

I have recently begun playing through the story again, and now I'm starting to remember a ton of things from when I first played! One memorable mission for me was Stowaway, simply because of how many times I failed that mission on my first playthrough! It took me so many tries my first time to catch up to the plane (of course, when I was playing it again the other day, I got on the plane on my first try tounge.gif ). There was also all those moments in gameplay that I began repeating again and remembering when I first did them, such as getting the private jet early by hopping over the lowest fence at the Los Santos airport with an ambulance (and then getting blown out of the sky by a fighter jet when I flew over Las Venturas on my first playthrough, I never expected that to happen!), as well as hopping on top of the trolley in San Fierro with infinite ammo and a 6 star wanted level to see how long I could survive riding on top of it and how many military vehicles and helicopters I could blow up. I also used to love creating pile-ups on the freeway in Las Venturas and just watch all of the cars blowing up around me (I still remember when I got killed by a door from a car that blew up, that was another unexpected memorable gameplay moment). Listening to K-DST was also pretty memorable, since that was all I ever listened to on my first playthrough tounge.gif

I just had so much fun with this game. I might have played III and VC before (and I've got a lot of memories from playing those, too), but I think San Andreas was really the game that introduced me to the GTA series as a whole icon14.gif

San Andreas was my first ever GTA Game
My brother bought it for me around 2008 and I put it in my PS2 and played for hours!
My favorite mission probably was Reuniting the Families, Running Dog, and Breaking the Bank at Caligulas
Today I have it on my PC
I dont have the best CPU or graphics card but that does not stop me from playing the game for hours haha.
I give this game hundreds of cookies cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif cookie.gif

Played it 4+ hours everyday for 3 years in a row since I got it on the first day of release for my PS2. I beat the story over 10 times on PS2 AND Xbox, and I explored every inch, used every cheat, Explored every hidden interior, busted every myth (which is another factor to why the game was so popular years after its release), and got 100% 3 times.

I don't play it much today, last time I played was about a few weeks ago, but I had fun, and playing with mods and multiplayer on the pc version at my friends house was a blast, with mods the game is pretty much a big, neverending universe of fun.

GTA SA is probably the best game ever made, for its freedom, size, and just epicness, you could do whatever you want, whenever you want.

SA was the sh*t just for the vast level of customization and openness. Bored of your game? go to your friends and play it and it's brand new again. The size/complexity of the storyline also kept us hooked!

I understand where you are coming from here entirely. I myself have this nostalgic feeling with GTA III more so than San Andreas because that was my first real game I was completely emersed in. Thinking back to my first time playing San Andreas on the PS2 is also one of my most cherished memories. I almost wish I could shock the memory out of my brain and experience the feeling all over again.

Hello all,

For the past few weeks now ever since we've been discussing about GTA V, I see my self sometimes unconsciously drifting off to daydreams invloving GTA SA. I don't know why I do it; it just happens, as if SA is something more than just a game.

With GTA V coming and the "info train eventually arriving at the station", I would like to know:

"When you think about GTA V, what makes you think back to San Andreas? What makes you long to return for San Andreas? What was it about San Andreas that you'd go back for just one more time? What makes you nostalgic about San andreas?

For me, it was the almost limitless roleplay abilties that have been lacking lately in the GTA series.
